A visitation for Joseph Lawrence Exley ,93, will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Gorman Funeral Home – Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming.  Inurnment will be at a later date at the Oregon Trail State Veterans’ Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming.  
Joe passed away during the early hours on Sunday, November 27, 2011 in Douglas from natural causes.  
Joe was born February 6, 1918 the son of Fredrick Lawrence Exley and Jeannie (Lovitt) Exley.  Joe was reared and educated in Douglas and graduated from Douglas High School.  He then joined the United States Army on March 24, 1942 and was honorably discharged on September27, 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He met the love of his life Alice June Morris, while working in Kansas.  Joe and Alice were married on May 14, 1957 in Lawrence, Kansas.  They moved their family to a lot of different towns and states.  Once he moved back home to Douglas in 1993 he was constantly keeping busy.  Some of Joe’s hobbies were fishing, camping, traveling, horse shoes, baseball, pool, and loved to dance.  Joe loved to drink coffee everyday with his buddies and going out to eat.  He was a true friend to all of his friends, if they needed him, he would drop anything to help them.  But, most of all Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.   He loved attending all their school functions.
Joe is survived by his children, Donna Trump of Douglas, Betty (Jack) Schirmer,  Joe (Corinne) Exley,  Dora (Mike) Samuels, Willy (Karen) Exley all of Gillette, Wyoming, Bob (Sherry) Exley of Arizona, and Bernie (Deborah) Barney of Flordia; siblings, twin brother Jim Exley and Wray Exley; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, niece, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Exley on September 26, 2002; his parents; brothers, Don Exley and Kenneth Exley.
A memorial to the Douglas Senior Center P.O. Box 192 Douglas, Wyoming 82633 or to Amedisys Hospice of Casper, 907 North Poplar Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601 would be appreciated by the family.  
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.

So sorry I could not be there for this special day to honor one of the Best. I shall miss him. I love all of you cousins deeply. This world is a better place for having my Uncle Joe in it.
