A funeral liturgy for Richard Arlen Benbo, 66, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Saint James Catholic Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Father Steve Titus as the Celebrant and David Benbo as the eulogist. A vigil for the deceased will be held at 5:00 P.M. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel. Inurnment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery at a later date.
Richard Benbo died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the emergency room at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas.
Richard was born April 1, 1946 in Fargo, North Dakota the son of Albert and Lillian (Mjolsneff) Benbo.
He was raised and educated in Fargo, North Dakota and Sheridan, Wyoming. He worked in construction and the oilfields in North Dakota and Wyoming. He was married to Ann M. Sanchez in Douglas on March 4, 1974. He has resided in Douglas the past 38 years.
He enjoyed the Colorado Rockies, football, listening to music especially Elvis, fishing, spending time with family, helping others, playing video games, watching WWE Monday Night Raw, hunting, coaching his kids in baseball, staying at home, and loved all animals. He was a loving and caring father.
He is survived by his spouse, Ann Benbo, of Douglas; children, Rich Benbo of Casper, Wyoming, Jodi Benbo of Sheridan, Chris Burton of Rapid City, South Dakota, Victor Burton of Anchorage, Alaska, David Benbo of Douglas, and Ronnie Benbo of Loveland, Colorado; siblings, Marlyss “Molly Thiesing of Rapid City, Adrell Brown of Moorhead, Minnesota, Allen Benboe of Rapid City, and Arlo Benbo of Newcastle, Wyoming; half-sisters, Rosie Pearson and Mona “Mo” Warnick; grandchildren, Meaghan, Asa, Stephen, Ryan, Spencer, Brandon, Brittany, Tristin, Jessica, Jamie, Josh, Amanda, Robert, and Bubba; great grandchildren, Christopher and Abbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lillian Benbo; siblings, Bobby Benbo, Lee Benbo, and infant twin sisters; and grandchildren, Desirah Benbo, Doran Burton, and Joshua Burton.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Benbo, Ronnie Benbo, Victor Burton, Chris Burton, Rich Benbo, and Landy Benbo.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of his loving family and friends.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
A Richard A. Benbo Memorial Fund has been established at the Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 or donation cups have been distributed around town.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.
