A funeral service for Robert Walter “Bob” Buecker, 94, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Wheatland United Methodist Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Robin Riley and Pastor Jeremy Haroldson. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Wheatland Cemetery.
Bob Buecker passed away at his home in Wheatland on Saturday, October 28, 2017.
Bob Buecker was born Tuesday, March 13, 1923 to Fred and Clara (Johann) Buecker in Seward County, Nebraska.
He graduated from Seward High School and went on to marry Jeannette Eichorn in 1943. They were the parents of four sons and one daughter.
Bob began flying at age 18. He joined the Army Air Corps and was a Reserve officer in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served as a liaison officer for the United States Air Force to the Taiwan Air Force in the 1970’s. Other endeavors include flight instructor, livestock buyer specializing in purebred cattle operations, and manager of the Thunderbird Ranch in Norbeck, South Dakota. In 1960 the family moved to Sidney, Nebraska and Bob went to work for Farmers National Company of Omaha. After some years he started his own company, Midwest Agri-Land Company. He was known throughout Western Nebraska for his expertise in farm management. He continued to manage his own farms until his death.
In 1996 Bob and Myrna Kragel were married. He sold his business and moved to Wheatland. He enjoyed pheasant and turkey hunting, fishing, and landscaping and caring for his property. He also deeply loved and had and empathy for children and supported causes that enriched their lives. Bob was active in Wheatland United Methodist Church. His Christian faith was a very important part of his life and shaped who he was.
Bob is survived by his wife; children, John Buecker, Robert Jr. (Shelly) Buecker, Cynthia (Robert) Lauridsen, Dan (Tracy) Buecker; daughter-in-law, Kay Buecker; stepchildren, Curtis (Zhanna) Barnett, Sandra Rice, and Jeremy Barnett; step-daughter-in-law, Kelly Barnett; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Smith; and several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas and stepson, Patrick Barnett.
A memorial to the Smile Train, 41 Madison Avenue 28th Floor, New York, New York 10010 or to the Children’s Hospital 13123 East 16th Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80045 or to the United Methodist Church Relief (UMCOR) 907 Ninth Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
