WESLEY DAHL Obituary

Wesley Calvin Dahl (“The Big 4 D”), 77 of Douglas, Wyoming passed away at his home on Sunday, April 14, 2024 with his wife and children by his side.

Wesley was born on Tuesday, August 13, 1946 in Brookings, South Dakota to Gladys Marion (Koch) and Calvin Wesley Dahl.  Wes had many fond memories to share about his childhood in South Dakota, many of which included stories about working on old cars and raising hell with his buddies.

Wes joined the United States Navy in 1964 and served as a Telegrapher Clerk where he specialized in Morse Code. He was honorably discharged after four years of service.  Upon discharge from the Navy, he began employment with the Chicago and North Western Railroad in South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  The railroad transferred him to Wyoming in 1985.  Wyoming became his favorite place to be and was happy to call it home for the past 40 years.

Wesley met his dear wife, Pamela Jean Hanson, of 47 years at a stop light in 1976.  The two married in April of 1977.  To this union, four children were born.  Among other things, Wes and Pam liked gambling and finding a casino along the way no matter where they went.  For many years Wes enjoyed playing poker with his friends at the Waterhole in Douglas.  Sometimes he was lucky and sometimes not so much.

Wes is survived by his wife, Pamela Dahl, of Douglas, Wyoming; six children, Alesha (Brian) Raba of Douglas, Wyoming, Cyndi (David) Runion of Glenrock, Wyoming; Jago (Nicole) Dahl of Douglas, Wyoming, Linsy (Paul) Saenz of Rapid City, South Dakota, Amber Dahl of Wisconsin, and Angela Hyde of Minnesota; and ten grandchildren, Peyton Raba, Kadin Matthews, Tessa Raba, Grayci Dahl, Kael Matthews, Aubree Saenz, Calie Dahl, Natally Dahl, Autumn Saenz and Azalea Runion.  He is also survived by two sisters, Judy Even of Elkton, South Dakota and Sandi (Larry) Gruseth of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The family will not be holding a public memorial service but rather a small family gathering to celebrate his life.

Memorials to the Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8, P.O. Box 1, Douglas, Wyoming.82633 would be appreciated by the family

The Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
