ANGIE MESA Obituary
Funeral liturgy for Angie Marie Mesa, 81, will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Saint James Catholic Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Father Demetrio Penascoza as the Celebrant. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Gorman Funeral Home-Converse Chapel in Douglas. Angie’s final rest place will be at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Angie Mesa died Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas.
Angie was born Saturday, January 15, 1938 in San Luis, Colorado the daughter of Pasquel and Christina (Gomez) Sanchez. Her family moved to Sheridan, Wyoming when she was six where she received her education. She met Alfonso Alexander “Al” Mesa and they were married April 23, 1955 in Casper, Wyoming. They moved to the Douglas area in 1956, where she resided the rest of her life. She worked as a waitress at the LaBonte Hotel for Rachel and Harry Johnston for several years.
Angie enjoyed playing bingo with her mother, gardening, working her flower beds, and tending to her yardwork. Her most cherished times were spent with her grandchildren and having large family gatherings. Angie spent many hours crocheting and cross stitching. She enjoyed her evening glass of wine and an occasional cigarette.
Angie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Al Mesa, of Douglas; children Carlos (Val) Mesa of Douglas, Teresa (Steve) Ingalls of Wheatland, Wyoming, Mike (Vicki) Mesa of Fort Collins, Colorado, Katie (Terry) Emmert of Douglas, and Danny (Colleen) Mesa of Gillette; siblings, Ann Benbo of Douglas and Art Sanchez of Sheridan; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Archie Sanchez; sisters, Cora Trujillo and Ciedia Trujillo; and great grandson, Christian Miller.
A memorial to the Alzheimer’s Association of Wyoming, 400 East First Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601 would be appreciated by the family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Carlos Mesa, Mike Mesa, Danny Mesa, Steve Ingalls, Terry Emmert, and Alec Mesa.
