LUETTA JOY (BELL) BROW

Funeral services will be held for Luetta Joy Brow, 89, at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Tim Ricker of Frontier Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Joy Brow died Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas, Wyoming.

Joy was born as a twin on Thursday, July 10, 1930 in Seward, Nebraska the daughter of Joseph and Pearl Kline (Collins) Bell.  She was raised and educated in Seward.

Joy married Tommie B. Brow on May 1, 1948 in Seward.  They lived in many places because of Tommie’s work, but in 1965 they made Douglas their permanent home. 

Joy worked as a dishwasher at Bright’s Café (Th Koop) for many years.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing gin rummy and solitaire.  She also did word searches with them.  She loved to embroidery, which included making pillow cases for family and friends.  Joy was a great homemaker and made the best pancakes and fried bacon.  She liked babies and the elderly, visiting Michael Manor for years. 

Joy had an ornery streak about her.  She had an identical twin and they were always switching names to fool people.  Joy had a red birthmark on her neck, they called her Spot and her sister, Joyce, was called Speck.

She was diagnosed with dementia and she has finally won the battle.  She was tough and exhibited a strength that was rememberable. 

Joy is survived by her children, Wanda J. (Scott) Browning of Casper, Wyoming and Tommie B. (Judy) Brow Jr. of Bar Nunn, Wyoming; siblings, Donald Bell of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Luella Joyce Imig and Robert Bell both of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Tommie, on July 4, 2006; sister, Joann McEntee, in 1994; and great-great grandson, Parker Pittsley, in 2015.   

A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 192, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 or Douglas Care Center, 1108 Birch Street, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Pittsley, Ryan Pittsley, Chris Syverson, Robert AuFrance, Thomas Brow, and Tommie Wintermote.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kyler Syverson, Austin Sterling, Noah Sterling, and Steven Brow.

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
