Funeral services for Michael Robert “Mike” Vigil Jr., 50, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Douglas High School Recreation Center Gymnasium in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Frank Wiederrecht of The Gathering officiating and Bob Bath as the eulogist.  Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mike Vigil died Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas of a sudden illness.
Mike was born March 5, 1968 in Casper, Wyoming the son of Valorie Jean (Jackson) and Michael Robert Vigil Sr.  Mike was raised and educated in Gillette, Wyoming and Douglas.  He graduated from the Douglas High School in 1986 and attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie on a wrestling scholarship.  Following his time in Laramie he returned to Casper and moved to Gillette to work for the railroad.  In 1996 he returned to Douglas and began working in the family business, Vigil Trucking – Oilfield Service, which he worked until the time of his death.
Mike was married to Shauna Lynn Stroud in Douglas on October 18, 1985, and to this union a daughter, Brittany, was born.  Shauna died October 24, 2011.  Later Mike married Tammy Lynn Ware on January 1, 2016 in Douglas.
Mike’s passions were wrestling and his grandchildren.  He was involved in coaching the Douglas Junior High School and Douglas High School wrestling teams from 1999 to 2009, and he also coached the Douglas Junior High School cross country team.  He was involved with and coached the AAU wrestling teams.
Mike had this generous spirit in giving to his community and worldwide causes in various ways.
Mike is survived by his wife, Tammy Ware; daughter, Brittany (Travis) Mortimore; grandchildren, Maraya, Ripken, and Kaileia Mortimore all of Douglas; father, Mike Vigil, of Casper; mother, Valorie Jackson of Douglas; step daughters, Brooke Marcus and Olivia Marcus both of Douglas; sister, Michelle Pierce of Gillette; brothers, Matthew Vigil and Marshall Vigil both of Casper; paternal grandmother, Lucy Vigil, of Worland, Wyoming; mothers and fathers-in-law, Jerry and Donna Stroud of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Claude and Doris Ware of Douglas; three nieces; one nephew; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Bret Vigil, on August 22, 1986; paternal grandfather, John Vigil; and maternal grandparents, Elmer and Arlene Jackson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Vigil, Marty Vigil, Travis Mortimore, Scott Ware, Scott Stroud, and Scott Ruff.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of the wrestling community and the many he touched.  
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
A memorial to the Mike Vigil Memorial Scholarship Memorial Fund in care of the Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
A reception will be held at the Fort Reno Building at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas immediately following the graveside service.
