Funeral services for Wayne Allen Spilinek, 58, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2019 the First Baptist Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Zack Andrews officiating.
Wayne Spilinek passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 near Douglas, Wyoming.
Wayne was born Wednesday, December 21, 1960 in Saint Paul, Nebraska the son of Gerald Marion and Roberta Lucia (Schmidt) Spilinek. Wayne grew up in McCook, Nebraska with his four siblings. After graduating from McCook High School, Wayne worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for many years, which eventually brought him to Wyoming. Most recently, Wayne was employed by Nalco Champion, Ecolab.
Wayne met Mia Goodin in Douglas and they were married on August 13, 1988. Wayne and Mia have three children: Sterling, Stone, and Saylor. Wayne’s greatest accomplishments and hobbies were encouraging and supporting his children. Wayne was his kid’s number one fan, anyone who was at a school or sporting event with him would see that. He could often be seen (and heard) riding his Harley Davidson around town. Wayne was notorious for turning a quick grocery trip into an hour-long venture, chatting with almost everyone he bumped into.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mia Spilinek, of Douglas; sons, Sterling Spilinek of Douglas and Stone Spilinek of Glendale, Arizona; daughter, Saylor Spilinek of Douglas; mother, Roberta Spilinek of McCook; brothers, Gerald (Cindy) Spilinek Jr. of Wichita, Kansas, Tony (Beverly) Spilinek of McCook, and Thomas Spilinek of Wichita; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Spilinek, and sister, Karen Spilinek.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, Wyoming 82633. Donations will be used in support of Douglas Junior Babe and Legion Baseball programs.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
