WILLIAM HOFFMAN Obituary

Funeral services for William Richard “Dick” Hoffman, 94, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Gorman Funeral Homes-Platte Chapel in Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Jeremy Haroldson officiating. Inurnment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.   Military honors will be accorded by Laramie Peak VFW Post 3558 and Ora Call American Legion Post #10.
Dick Hoffman passed away at his home on Thursday, September 6, 2018.
Dick was born September 21, 1923 in Little Bear, Wyoming to Cecil L. and Inez Mae (Scott) Hoffman. He grew up south of Wheatland on the family farm.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943, and served as a paratrooper in the Second World War. He was honorably discharged on January 11, 1949.  He was married to Doris F. Walther on March 3, 1946.  In February, 1961 they adopted their only son, Larry.
Dick went to work for White’s Appliance in Wheatland after leaving the Army.  He and his brother Roy Hoffman ran a custom farming business for several years.  He was also employed by Willcuts for a period of time.  In 1966 he went to work as a diesel mechanic for Knisley-Moore Construction.  Throughout the next few years worked for other construction companies in the same capacity and in 1973 he returned to Wheatland and worked for Lindstrom Ready Mix until he retired.  He also enjoyed operating a beekeeping business with his brother, Roy and nephew, Rich Hoffman.
Dick enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, and gardening.  He belonged to the local Laramie Peak VFW Post 3558 and enjoyed participating in all their activities.  He also was a volunteer at the Laramie Peak Museum in Wheatland.  He especially enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Doris F. Hoffman of Wheatland; son, Larry L. Hoffman of South Carolina; granddaughter, Linsee L. Hoffman of Buffalo, Wyoming; grandsons, Christopher L. Hoffman of Buffalo, Stephen L. Hoffman of South Carolina, and Brandon L. Hoffman of Florida; great granddaughter, Kennedy L. Hoffman of Buffalo; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy Hoffman and Raymond Hoffman; and four sisters, Mae Crouse, Marie Parish, Dorothy Jones, and Ruth Feil.
A reception will follow the funeral services at the VFW in Wheatland.
Serving as urnbearer will be Larry Hoffman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Hoffman, Christopher Hoffman, Ralph Carlson, Stephen Hoffman, Alan Bennett, and Rod Birkle.
A memorial to the Laramie Peak VFW Post 3558, 1401 Ninth Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
