Funeral services for Jean Ellis Short, 89, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 7, 2017 at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with The Reverend Lori Modesitt and The Reverend Jill Zimmerschied officiating.  Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Jean Short passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
Jean was born Sunday, August 21, 1927 to John and Florence Elizabeth (Hankins) Ellis at their home in Difficulty Creek, Wyoming.  Jean married Edward “Dover” Huston in 1949.  The had two children, Lex and Lee.  After being widowed, Jean married Vernon C. Short in 1979.
Jean spent a lot of her life raising children.  After raising her own children, she and Vernon raised her 3 grandchildren.  Jean’s interests included gardening, playing cards, dancing and meeting friends for dinner at the Country Club or The Moose.  She was also very active in the Episcopal Church.
Jean is survived by seven grandchildren, Sean Bowman, Kelly Bowman, Cortney Connolly (Ben), Josie Lauck (Kyle), Cameron Huston (Abby), Hailey Orosco (Jake), and Eric Jackson (Doreen).  Also by five great-grandchildren, Cole Goertz, Laynie Goertz, Bo Lauck, Halle Huston, and Keen Huston and siblings, Mike Ellis, Charlie Ellis, John Ellis, and Robert Ellis.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Edward “Dover” Huston, on June 26, 1971, and Vernon C. Short on September 6, 1999; and her sons, Lee Ellis Huston on January 1, 1968 and Lex Dover Huston on October 20, 1985.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kelly Artery, Curt Artery, Doug Dunlap, and Jon Lewis.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Cole Goertz, Keen Huston, Ron Darling, George Good, and Tony Testolin
A memorial to the All Saints Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 997, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
The Gorman Funeral Homes-Platte Chapel of Wheatland, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.

I think Jean was the top of the list as one of the strongest women I have ever had the pleasure of bonding with. I really looked up to her. We lost track the girls went off to college. For that ...I am truly sorry. I will miss her. She was loved.
