Saturday, October 7, 2017 with Pastor Jim Palus officiating.
On Friday, September 29, 2017 at 3:55 the Central Wyoming Hospice House in Casper, Wyoming following a short battle with cancer claimed our beautiful mother, Patricia Alice (Mahoney) Rathbun of Douglas.
Pat was born Tuesday, June 22, 1948 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota the daughter of Lowell Leslie and Eva (Pehringer) Mahoney.  Pat was raised on the family ranch near Alva. Patricia and her sister Judy Mahoney loved to spend days riding horses and sneaking to the Alva store to get ice cream.  Patricia attended grade school in Alva, and went to the big city of Hulett for the remainder of her education.  Patricia was active all her high school years as a cheerleader, a member of the FHA, the National Honor Society, and also attended Girls State.  Patricia graduated Salutatorian of her class and received a Scholarship to the University of Wyoming which she later regretted not taking advantage of.
On January 9th, 1968 she married her high school sweetheart Roger Rathbun and had two children, Ronald Rathbun and Stephannie (Garnica) Rathbun.  Roger and Patricia divorced 25 years later, and she never remarried.
Roger and Patricia moved to Douglas in 1975 so they could start their business which she ran until their divorce.  Patricia graduated from Beauty School and was a practicing beautician for several years. She also worked as a real estate agent, and then opened a Welding business with partner Roger Smathers whom she lived with the last years of her life.  Patricia loved to go to the lake to go fishing, trips to Deadwood, Mesquite, and Las Vegas, and traveling to NASCAR races
She is survived by her children, Ron Rathbun of Douglas and Stephannie Garnica of Hulett, Wyoming; siblings, Judy Mahoney and Tommy Mahoney both of Hulett; grandchildren, Aubrey Garnica, Keaton Garnica, Kahle Garnica, and Barrett Garnica; great granddaughter, Harper David; and numerous nieces and nephews..
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell Mahoney in 1976 and Eva Mahoney on May 7, 2003, and former husband, Roger Rathbun on November 30, 2014.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
A memorial to the Central Wyoming Hospice House, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601 or to the Converse County Cancer Fund in care of Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Keaton Garnica, Kahle Garnica, Barrett Garnica, and Chris West.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.

To the Rathbun family
Our deepest sympathy to you all. Brian worked for Roger for awhile in the oilfield in the 70s. We partied a lot with Patty & had a lot of fun. She was a great lady & will be truly missed.
