A private memorial service for John George Rhoads, 80, will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 south of Glenrock, Wyoming.  Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming
John Rhoads a resident of Glenrock passed away from bone marrow cancer on Friday, December 1, 2017 in
Casper, Wyoming with family by his bedside at Kloefkorn Hospice Home.
John “Johnny” was born Thursday, June 24, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of John McKinley and Martha (Thomas) Rhoads.  After graduating high school, John enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a gunners mate on the Newport News.  He saw much of the Mediterranean and other parts of the world.
John spent nearly 60 years driving semi-trucks and tour buses across every state in the lower 48 and even several trips to Alaska.  He taught his wife, Shirley, to drive and she drove with him for several of those years.  He retired from PC Transport in Casper in 2016 at the age of 79.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Shirley of 38 years, of  Glenrock; four daughters, Leslee Elliott of Glenrock, Gina (Dennis) Hall of Newberry Springs, California, Andy (Thomas) Lawrence of Reno, Nevada, and Doreen (Mark) Nace of Red Lion, Pennsylvania; one son, Mark Elliott of Plano, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Always at his side, Bob, his dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Martha Seymour and Mary Phillips, all of Baltimore; and one son, Steve Elliott of Glenrock.
A memorial to the Central Wyoming Hospice Home, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601 would be appreciated by the family.  
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
