There will be a Celebration of Life for Jerry Franklin Payne, 77, at a later date.
Jerry passed away at his home near Glenrock, Wyoming on Thursday, February 15, 2018.
Jerry was born in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday, August 4, 1940 to Francis Mary Elnora (Cobb) and Arthur Woodrow Payne Sr.
After graduating from the Douglas High School in 1958 he then joined the United States Navy and was on the destroyer USS Carpenter as a fire control technician. In July of 1961 and a honorable discharge Jerry returned to Douglas and met his love of life, Gloria Jean Stepanich, and became married March 23, 1963. They had two children, daughter, Shelly Payne and son, Jerry D Payne.
Beginning employment at Moss Equipment then to Forest Oil then moved to Glenrock and went to work for Pacific Power for some time then bought a drilling business (Payne Drilling) after a number of years went back to Pacific Power until retirement in 1998.
In spring of 1999 Jerry landed his dream job working for Tony Cate at Echo Mountain Ranch until his health began to decline and had to resign from the position in 2011.
Jerry enjoyed anything he could hunt from rocks to animals, enjoyed time in the outdoors, and with family and friends.
Jerry is survived by wife ,Gloria Payne, of Glenrock; daughter, Shelly Payne of Glenrock; son, Jerry D. Payne (Tiffany ) of Bar Nunn Wyoming; two granddaughters, Tracy and Lela Payne; sister, Tamara Shamey, of Salt Lake City Utah; and brother, Raymond Payne, of Utah.
Jerry was proceeded in death by father, Arthur Payne; mother, Elonora Brow; and four, brothers, Jim, Terry, Larry, and Art Payne.
In lieu of Flowers please send donations to the Glenrock Senior Center or the Glenrock Ambulance service they were a great help to us thru these times.

Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of Jerry. I had no idea and was shocked when I saw this today. He was a good guy and I always enjoyed our conversations together. He will be missed.

I just learned of Jerry's passing. My heartfelt sympathy to Gloria and family.
