Dorothy Rimmer passed away at the Douglas Care Center the morning of April 28, 2018. There will not be a funeral service.

Dorothy Caroline Walter was born May 5, 1930, in Ranchester, Wyo., to Louis Walter and Katherine Dinges Walter. Louis and Katherine were immigrant Germans from Russia and raised their family on a farm. Katherine passed at a young age after having seven children, and Louis raised them on his own.

The Walter family settled in Lingle, Wyo., which is where Dorothy and her siblings attended school. She met and married Roy Rimmer, another farmer from up the road in Veteran, Wyo. Dorothy and Roy had two children, Carolyn and David.

Roy eventually went to work for the Wyoming Highway Department and the family moved to Douglas. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and crafting, and she worked at Hesteds, CR Anthony’s and Ben’s Frontier Drug.

After Roy retired from the highway department, they took a motel management course and moved to Half Moon Bay, Calif., Reno, Nev., and Burley, Idaho. They owned the Powers Motel for 19 years before Roy retired a second time. Soon after, Roy passed away, on Jan. 11, 1998. Dorothy moved back to Douglas in 2000 and remained until her death.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her folks, Louis and Katherine; brother, David Walter; sister, Lorraine Walter Rimmer; brother, Leo Walter; sister, Beverly Walter Shaw; sister, Mary Walter Whomble; and son-in-law, R. M. “Mike” Eberspecher.

She is survived by her sister Ruth Walter Goering of Salt Lake City, Utah. She also leaves to mourn her daughter, Carolyn Eberspecher, of Douglas; son, David Rimmer (Debra) of Gardnerville, Nev.; grandchildren Kelly (Carrie) Eberspecher of Hinsdale, Il., Kara (Eric) Koss of Douglas, Clint Eberspecher of Berthoud, Colo., Clayton (Bianca) Rimmer of Atlanta, Ga., and Abbey Rimmer of Las Vegas, Nev.; and her companion, George Jackson of Douglas. The great grandkids are Abbie and Charlie Koss, Sophie and Jaclyn Eberspecher and, most recently Roy Fierrarra Rimmer.
