A funeral service for Laverne Rookstool, 84, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Community Baptist Church in Glenrock, Wyoming with Pastor Rick Bishop officiating.  Interment will be in the Glenrock Cemetery.
Laverne Rookstool died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Goshen County Care Hospital in Torrington, Wyoming.
She was born December 31, 1926 in Saint Louis, Missouri the daughter of Edna Florence (Bishop) Hershey and Clarence William (C.W.) Hershey. Her parents could not agree on a name, and when she left the hospital the birth certificate simply read “Babe Hershey”.  Her legal name was soon added, but the name “Babe” was used most of her life by her friends and family.  Her parents moved to Wyoming soon after and she grew up in Glenrock, Wyoming, where she graduated from high school.
She was a good student, a cheerleader, and loved to write stories and poetry.
Laverne had artistic talent and loved to draw, embroidery, make quilts, gardening, canning, and cooking.  She loved children and wanted to be a history teacher.  Her interests included religious historical geography, Egyptology, and archeology.
She married Lester D. Rookstool on August 22, 1944 in Glenrock.  The couple had been married sixty-six years.
She is survived by her husband, Lester D. Rookstool, of Glenrock; her children, Edna Irene Booth (Timothy) McDermott of Newell, South Dakota, John Michael (Dawna) Rookstool of Chandler, Arizona, and Mary Belle Rookstool of Monterey, California; grandchildren, Robert Booth, Donald Booth, Kaleb Rookstool, and Mollie Garnes; ten great grandchildren; siblings, Billie Jean Kennaugh of Glenrock, Vicki Lynn Henderson of Torrington, Donald Hershey of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Raymond Hershey of Casper, Wyoming; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Booth, Creighton Booth, Robert Booth, Kaleb Rookstool, Jerry Popp, and Connor Price.  Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Michael Jacobs.
A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.

We were so sad to hear of Babe''s passing. She was a very kind hearted woman who obviously loved her children and her husband very much. Babe lived a long full life and all the happy memories will stay with you her children and her husband. We wish you all peace during this most difficult time.
