Arturo “Art” Perez Hernandez, age 50, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Denver, Colorado following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Art was born on October 12, 1975, in Santa Isabel, Chihuahua, Mexico to Arturo Perez Peña and Maria Cristina Hernandez Chavira. Art spent his younger years growing up in in Santa Isabel, Chihuahua, Mexico and came to the United States at age twelve (12) and begun attending school in Wheatland, Wyoming. Since he came to the United States at such a young age, he was able to become fluent in English which opened the doors for him in his adult years.

Art grew up tending his father’s fields, growing crops such as corn, beans, and soybeans. He learned to work cattle with his father and uncles, and learned the ins and outs of farming, tractors, cattle, mechanic work and so many other tasks that he applied to his work all his life.

Art married the love of his life, Alicia Maria Fabela Gutierrez, in May of 1993. The two had known each other since childhood, and even though Alicia tried her hardest not to fall in love with him, his charisma, charm, and good looks eventually got to her. The two had three children, Jesus, Yesenia, and Lupita. The five spent many beautiful and wonderful moments together, traveling to places in their suburban, enjoying warm summer nights on the ranch, and celebrating each milestone each of the children achieved.

Art was so proud of his children and their successes. His pride and joy was being able to provide his children a college education so that they could secure jobs that would provide them a happy and comfortable life. He worked countless hours to give his children everything they needed, and even as adults never hesitated to help them as much as he could. Art ensured his son was as strong and knowledgeable as him and taught his daughters how to do things for themselves. He always told his kids to be strong, humble, intelligent, enjoy life, and to never back down from a challenge.

Art spent his life doing all sorts of work, such as working in construction, electrical work, truck driving, and many agriculture related jobs. He began his working life in Wheatland, Wyoming, and later moved to Denver, Colorado seeking new job opportunities. He discovered that city life was not for him. In 2004, he settled in Wheatland, Wyoming and began working for Joe Johnson Company / Scissors Ranch as the ranch foreman. Art devoted his life, body, and soul to ensuring the ranch ran smoothly, and worked long hours on pivots to grow quality crops and made sure the cattle were always fed. There was not a thing he could not handle or fix.

Art was the life of the party. He enjoyed having beers with his cousins and friends, driving around in his favorite trucks both in Wyoming and Mexico, and loved hosting a party or get together. He loved dancing with his daughters, making ridiculous jokes, enjoying good food, watching football with his son, and just always had a smile on his face no matter what. He truly was such a light in everyone’s life.

Art was a man who could do anything, and when he was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2024, his and his family’s life were completely turned upside down. His family watched as his quality of life slowly declined and watched as the man who could once do everything, slowly could no longer do all the things he loved. One thing is for certain though, he faced his cancer with the strongest heart, faith, bravery, and courage. His strength was incredible and he never gave up.

In May of 2025, Arts dad, Arturo Sr. was also diagnosed with cancer, news that again, turned the Perez family’s life upside down. Art Jr. and Arturo Sr. dreamed of beating their cancer and spending time together in Wyoming. Both wanted the other to heal, and both of them supported each other and encouraged each other to never give up. Arturo Sr. passed away on December 30, 2025, leaving the family heartbroken and devasted. Art faced his father’s death with bravery and courage and continued his fight and perseverance.

Art was a beloved husband, father, son, cousin, and friend who lit up anyone’s life and never had to be asked twice to lend a helping hand. He would go to Mexico and would help anyone in his path. His family and friends knew that you could always count on Art if you needed help with anything, he never hesitated to help his neighbor and always wanted to give back some of the goodness he enjoyed in this life.

Art was preceded in death by his father, Arturo Perez Peña. He is survived by his wife, Alicia Maria Fabela Gutierrez; his mother, Maria Cristina Hernandez Chavira; and his three children, Jesus (Jenna) Arturo Perez, Yesenia (Patrick) Perez Ruwart, and Lupita Perez.

Art leaves behind a legacy of hard work, strength, kindness, and a deep love for his family and agriculture. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing leaves an emptiness that feels will never be filled, but all the memories he shared with all the people that loved him will keep him alive forever.

A Vigil and Rosary will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 5:00 P.M. A funeral will be held for both Art and Arturo Sr. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, (located at 1001 9th Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201) Following the funeral, the family will host a gathering at 10th Street Social (located at 812 10th Street, Wheatland, WY 82201), where the family welcomes friends, family and community members to share stories and memories celebrating both of their lives.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jesus Arturo Perez, Victor Duarte, Bernardo Perez, David Perez, Jose Perez and Kevin Johnson.

Arturo “Art” Pérez Hernández, de 50 años de edad, falleció en paz y rodeado de su amada familia el viernes 13 de febrero de 2026 en Denver, Colorado, tras una larga y valiente batalla contra el cáncer.

Art nació el 12 de octubre de 1975 en Santa Isabel, Chihuahua, México, hijo de Arturo Pérez Peña y María Cristina Hernández Chavira. Pasó sus primeros años creciendo en Santa Isabel, Chihuahua, México, y llegó a los Estados Unidos a la edad de doce (12) años, donde comenzó a asistir a la escuela en Wheatland, Wyoming. Al haber llegado a los Estados Unidos en su niñez, logró dominar el idioma inglés con fluidez, lo cual le abrió muchas puertas en su vida adulta.

Art creció trabajando en los campos de su padre, cultivando maíz, frijol y soya. Aprendió a cuidar el ganado junto a su padre y sus tíos, y aprendió todo sobre la agricultura, los tractores, el ganado, la mecánica y muchos otros labores que aplicó en su trabajo durante toda su vida.

Art se casó con el amor de su vida, Alicia María Fabela Gutiérrez, en mayo de 1993. Ambos se conocían desde la infancia y, aunque Alicia hizo todo lo posible por no enamorarse de él, su carisma, encanto y buena apariencia finalmente la conquistaron. Juntos tuvieron tres hermosos hijos: Jesús, Yesenia y Lupita. Los cinco (5) compartieron muchos momentos divertidos y maravillosos, viajando en su Suburban, disfrutando de las cálidas noches de verano en el rancho y celebrando cada logro alcanzado por sus hijos.

Art estaba muy orgulloso de sus hijos y de sus éxitos. Su mayor orgullo y alegría fue poder brindarles una educación universitaria y asegurarse de que obtuvieran empleos que les permitieran tener una vida feliz y cómoda. Trabajó incontables horas para asegurarse de que a sus hijos no les faltara nada y, incluso ya siendo adultos, nunca dudó en ayudarlos en todo lo que pudo. Art se aseguró de que su hijo fuera tan fuerte y inteligente como él, y de que sus hijas supieran valerse por sí mismas. Siempre les decía a sus hijos que fueran fuertes, humildes, inteligentes, felices y que nunca se rindieran ante un desafío.

Art dedicó su vida a todo tipo de trabajos, como la construcción, el trabajo eléctrico, la conducción de trailes y muchos empleos relacionados con la agricultura. Empezó su vida de trabajo en Wheatland, Wyoming y después se fue a Denver, Colorado para intentar trabajar ahí. Descubrió que la vida de cuidad no era para él. Se estableció en Wheatland, Wyoming en el año 2004 y comenzó a trabajar para Joe Johnson Company / Scissors Ranch como capataz del rancho. Art dedicó su vida, cuerpo y alma a asegurar que el rancho funcionara sin problemas, trabajando largas horas en los sistemas de riego para producir cultivos de calidad y asegurándose de que el ganado siempre estuviera alimentado.

Art era el alma de la fiesta. Disfrutaba compartir cervezas con sus primos y amigos, pasear en sus trocas favoritas tanto en Wyoming como en México, y le encantaba organizar fiestas o reuniones. Le gustaba bailar con sus hijas, hacer bromas disparatadas, disfrutar de buena comida, ver fútbol con su hijo y siempre tenía una sonrisa en el rostro, sin importar las circunstancias. Realmente fue una luz en la vida de todos.

Art era un hombre que podía hacerlo todo, y cuando fue diagnosticado con cáncer en junio de 2024, su vida y la de su familia cambiaron por completo. Su familia fue testigo de cómo su calidad de vida empeoraba poco a poco y cómo el hombre que todo lo podía hacer lentamente ya no podía realizar las cosas que tanto amaba. Sin embargo, una cosa es segura: enfrentó su cáncer con el corazón más fuerte, con fe, valentía y coraje. Su fortaleza fue increíble y nunca se dio por vencido.

En mayo de 2025, el papá de Art, Arturo Sr., también fue diagnosticado con cáncer, noticia que nuevamente puso de cabeza la vida de la familia Pérez. Art Jr. y Arturo Sr. soñaban con vencer el cáncer y pasar tiempo juntos en Wyoming. Ambos deseaban la sanación del otro, se apoyaron mutuamente y se animaron a no rendirse jamás. Arturo Sr. falleció el 30 de diciembre de 2025, dejando a la familia con el corazón destrozado. Art enfrentó la muerte de su padre con valentía y continuó su lucha con perseverancia.

Art fue un esposo, padre, hijo, primo y amigo amado que iluminaba la vida de todos y nunca necesitaba que le pidieran ayuda dos veces. Cuando iba a México, ayudaba a cualquiera que se cruzara en su camino. Su familia y amigos sabían que siempre podían contar con Art para cualquier cosa; nunca dudaba en ayudar a su prójimo y siempre quiso devolver un poco de la bondad que disfrutó en esta vida.

Le precedió en la muerte su padre, Arturo Pérez Peña. Le sobreviven su esposa, Alicia María Fabela Gutiérrez; su madre, María Cristina Hernández Chavira; y sus tres hijos: Jesús (Jenna) Arturo Pérez, Yesenia (Patrick) Pérez Ruwart y Lupita Pérez.

Deja un legado de trabajo arduo, dedicación, bondad y un profundo amor por su familia y por la agricultura. Será profundamente extrañado por todos quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo. Su partida deja un vacío que parece que nunca podrá llenarse, pero todos los recuerdos que compartió con las personas que lo amaron lo mantendrán vivo para siempre.

Un rosario y vigilia en honor de Art y Arturo Sr. se llevará a cabo el viernes 6 de marzo de 2026 a las 5:00 p.m. Se celebrará un funeral en honor de ellos el sábado 7 de marzo de 2026 a las 11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica St. Patrick’s (ubicada en 1001 9th Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201). Después del funeral, la familia ofrecerá una reunión en 10th Street Social (ubicado en 812 10th Street, Wheatland, WY 82201), donde invitan a amigos, familiares y miembros de la comunidad a compartir historias y recuerdos celebrando la vida de ambos.

Servirán como portadores del féretro Jesús Arturo Pérez, Víctor Duarte, Bernardo Pérez, David Pérez, José Pérez y Kevin Johnson.
