A funeral service for Barry Wilhelm, 70, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Casey Schroeder officiating. Lunch will follow the service.
Barry Wilhelm passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026 in Denver, Colorado.
Barry was born on Thursday, February 16, 1956 in Wheatland the son of Edward and Mary Ann (Steeley) Wilhelm.
Born and raised in Wheatland, he graduated from Wheatland High School in 1974. In 1975, he married the love of his life, Tambra Sue Shepard, and together they built a life rooted in family, faith, and farming. He spent his entire life farming the land he loved, dedicating himself to the work and community that meant so much to him.
In 1980, he welcomed his son, Nick, followed by his son, Aaron in 1984. He was a proud and devoted father, and nothing brought him greater joy than his family — especially his grandchildren, Madison and Nolan, who were the light of his life.
He cherished attending Cowboy basketball games with his dad, Ed, creating memories that later continued with his own sons and family. Those traditions were special to him and reflected his deep love for family time. He also enjoyed simple pleasures, like driving around the farm in his Honda with his wife, appreciating the land and the life they built there.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, hardworking spirit, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Barry is survived by his wife, Tambra Wilhelm; sons, Nick Wilhelm and Aaron (Ashley) Wilhelm; grandchildren, Madison and Nolan Wilhelm; mother, Mary Ann Wilhelm; siblings, Julie Hornecker, Bill Wilhelm, and Teresa Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward “Ed” Wilhelm on July 10, 1997, and brother, Daniel L. “Danny” Wilhelm on December 28, 2000.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
