BETTY FERRELL Obituary

Funeral services for Betty June Ferrell, 89, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Douglas Baptist Church, 135 Pearson Drive, in Douglas, Wyoming.  Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Betty Ferrell died Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Niobrara County Extended Care Center in Lusk, Wyoming.

Betty was born on Sunday, September 9, 1934 in Belton, Kentucky to the late Nevaleen (Camplin) Ray and Charlie W. Ray.

Betty attended high school in Madisonville, Kentucky and Bisbee, Arizona.  She was married to William R. “KY” Ferrell on January 30, 1954 in Shawneetown, Illinois.  She dedicated her career to Pump-in-Pak, Lane 11 Bowling Alley, selling Avon and Douglas Exploration.  Betty’s love for bowling, crocheting, cooking, and baking for her family and friends brought her great joy.  

Betty was a woman of immense kindness and compassion.  Known for her infectious smile and kind words, she touched the lives of everyone she encountered.  She was a devoted mother and her daughters’ best friend.  Betty was a living example of goodness, trust, and honesty, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.  Her family and her faith in the Lord were the cornerstones of her life.

Throughout her life, Betty was an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Kentucky, Bisbee, Arizona, and Douglas, Wyoming.  Her unwavering faith brought her solace and strength.  Betty found joy in spending time with her family, especially her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Rita (John) Connachan, Nancy (Dave) Baize, and Alicia “Lish” (Larry) Murphy;  son-in-law Arthur Roy; her sister, Rosie (TJ) Whitter; grandchildren, Aaron Ferrell, Melissa Deluna, Shane Nunn, Josh Nunn, Jennifer Dees, Miracle Ferrell, Patrick Morgan, Ashley Hinckley, Andrew Morgan, Ty Roy, Mandy Roy, and Cathan Murphy; and great grandchildren Teya Hineman, Drea Hineman, Cy Deluna, Rayeanne Deluna, Hadley Deluna, Maddie Nunn, Calista Nunn, Zoey Nunn, Guy Nunn, Benny dees, Karlynn Dees, Kayelynn Morgan, Lexi Morgan, Jaxon Morgan, Easton Hinckley, Bodey Hinckley, Tucker Hinckley, Sawyer Hinckley, Tanner Morgan, Archer Morgan, Lilah Murphy, Brilynn Murphy, Kenley Murphy, and Lochlainn Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William R. “KY” Ferrell, son Wesley Ferrell, son Norman Ferrell, daughter Rhonda Roy, mother Nevaleen Ray, father Charles Ray, brother Charles Neal “Jack” Ray, brother John Ray, brother Roy Ray, grandson Gabe Ortiz, and grandson Travis Roy.

Betty June Ferrell, lovingly known as Granny Goose, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will forever be cherished.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Murphy, Joh Connachan, Cathan Murphy, Shane Nunn, Josh Nunn, and Andrew Morgan.

The family will be receiving friends and loved ones at the Douglas Baptist Church for a reception following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Niobrara County Extended Care Center, P.O. Box 780, Lusk, Wyoming 82225 would be appreciated by the family.
