BONNIE JENKINS Obituary

Bonnie L. Jenkins, age 73, a longtime resident of Wheatland, Wyoming passed away after a long battle with health issues on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.

Bonnie was born on Tuesday, June 25, 1946 in Wheatland, she was raised by her grandmother Alice Butner in Wheatland.  She had five siblings, three girls and two boys.  She was married in 1961 to Gerald L. Jenkins of Wheatland.  They raised four children prior to their divorce in 1994.

Bonnie will always be remembered as a devoted and loving mother to her four surviving children; Anthony Jenkins of Yankton, South Dakota Teresa (Doug) Bergquist of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Clinton Jenkins of Sidney, Nebraska, and Amy Jenkins of Wheatland; and her daughter at heart, Debra (Bill) Hambrick of Yoder, Wyoming.  She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, all of whom she adored and loved dearly.  She spent much of her time crocheting toys, clothes, and baby blankets for her grandchildren and other lucky children in the area.  She was extremely creative and talented; she could take a skein of yarn and turn it into a rug or beautiful afghan within hours.  Bonnie was an avid reader who also enjoyed cooking and baking goodies with her grandchildren.  She was known for all the wonderful homemade pies she created daily to be served at JJ’s Little Brown Derby.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alice Butner; sister, Kathleen Piper; brother, Fred Blumer; and her parents.  Bonnie did not want a traditional funeral service.  Her wish was to be cremated and then have the family scatter her ashes at locations she had chosen.  The family honored her wishes.  There was a private viewing on May 20, 2020 prior to cremation on May 21, 2020.

A Celebration of Life ceremony in memory of Bonnie for family and friends will be held at a later date.

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
