BYRON PICKETT Obituary

Byron Russell Pickett, 55, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming.

Born on Wednesday, November 11, 1970, in Casper, Wyoming, Byron was the beloved son of Stephen and Vicky (Osborne) Pickett. On July 15, 1995, he married the love of his life, Heather Mezger Pickett. Together they shared nearly 31 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to their family.

Byron was known for his strong work ethic and quiet determination. He believed in the value of hard work, took pride in providing for his family, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. During the last several years of his career, he worked at the Dave Johnston Power Plant, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his dependability and dedication.

When he wasn’t working, Byron was happiest in the outdoors. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time surrounded by the beauty of Wyoming with his family. Whether gathered around a campfire, casting a line into a peaceful mountain stream, heading into the hills for a hunt, or simply enjoying the freedom of the open road, Byron found peace in nature and joy in creating lasting memories with those he loved most.

Above all else, Byron was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and the time he spent with them was what he treasured most. His adventurous spirit, quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always.

Byron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Byron and Phyllis Osborne and Cecil and Vi Pickett.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 31 years, Heather Mezger Pickett; his children, Austin Pickett and his wife, Selena, Logan Pickett, Hunter Pickett, and Catlin Porter and her husband, Jeremy; his cherished grandchildren, Dahlia, Vincent, Silas, Delilah, Jaxon, and Conner; his parents, Stephen and Vicky Pickett; his sisters, Brandie Dudley and her husband, Dan, Robin Tibbitts and her husband, Dwight, and Cortni Boren and her husband, Cade; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Byron’s legacy will live on in every family camping trip, every peaceful mountain stream, every mile of open highway, every sunrise in the mountains, and every moment spent outdoors with loved ones. Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of Byron’s life will be held at a later date. Service details will be announced by the family when they become available.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hunting with Heroes Wyoming in Byron’s honor, helping others experience the healing, fellowship, and peace of the outdoors that meant so much to him.

“Those we love never truly leave us. They live on in the stories we tell, the love they shared, and the memories we carry in our hearts forever.”

The Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming assisted with the arrangements.
