Carolyn “Lynn” Hancock, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19th, 2025 at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Wyoming.
Born on Sunday, October 3rd. 1948, to Everard Lewis and Helen Irva (Summers) Irwin in Ainsworth, Nebraska, Lynn spent her early years in Nebraska before her family relocated to the Black Hills in the early 1960s. On May 13th, 1966 she married the love of her life, Ralph Eugene Hancock. Together they settled in Douglas, Wyoming in 1972, where they raised their two children, Jay and Kristie.
Lynn had a lifelong love of reading and shared that passion with her community through her work as a librarian in Douglas for many years. Her quiet strength, spontaneous wit, and thoughtful nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Everard, on September 23, 1978; mother, Helen, on August 19, 2017; and sister, Alice Bechtold, April 7, 2024.
She is survived by her husband Ralph Hancock; her sisters Sandra Burdette and Nora (Bob) Brill; her children Jay (Jackie) Hancock and Kristie Hancock; her grandchildren Taylor (Lee) Schaub, Justin (Mallory) Hancock, Conner (Hailey) Sensenich, and Cameron (Jaiden) Sensenich; and her great-grandchildren Elisia Sensenich and Roman Schaub.
Lynn’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the stories she shared, and the family she cherished. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A celebration of life will be held at Blend Coffee & Company, 813 East Richards Street, Douglas, Wyoming on Saturday, November 8th, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. Family and friends are invited to wear purple in honor of Lynn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society in care of the Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
