A celebration of life for Catherine “Cathy” Evelyn (Weibel) Daly, 74, of Glendo, Wyoming will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Glendo Town Park in Glendo, Wyoming.
Cathy Daly passed away at home on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, following a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Cathy was a caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Cathy was born in Laramie, Wyoming to Richard H “Dick” and Burnese E Weibel on Sunday, May 18, 1947. After graduating from Laramie High School, Cathy married John Thomas Daly of Glendo in May of 1965. John had just graduated from the University of Wyoming. After a few years spent in Hulett, Wyoming where John taught Agriculture and their first son was born, they moved to John’s hometown of Glendo. Together, they had three sons, Shad Z (Beth Tallmadge) of Lakewood, Colorado, John Eugene “Gene” (Elaine and sons Clay and Justin) of Glendo, Wyoming, and Jack D (Angie and daughters Emma and Allie) of Kremmling, Colorado. Since 1980, Cathy and John lived at the Daly family cattle ranch on Horseshoe Creek in Glendo.
Cathy was a great cook and loved to cook in big quantities, which she enjoyed at home for her family and for ranch events like branding days. Her collected recipes are kept in giant binders. Over the years, the ranch was a veritable “Boys Ranch” as the family hosted many young men visiting, living, or working with them, as well as a few international exchange students - all of whom Cathy happily fed all-American meals.
In addition to being an EMT on the Glendo Volunteer Ambulance for 13 years, Cathy took vocational training and worked professionally in food service and institutional dietary management for many years; at the school in Glendo, at the marina in Glendo, at Michael Manor in Douglas, and finally as the food service supervisor at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in Douglas, from which she retired in 2012. Her favorite job was working at the Glendo school and feeding nutritional meals to the kids.
Cathy’s interests over the years included sewing western shirts for her husband, crafting, reading, bowling with friends, and spending time with her best friend, Ginger. After retirement, Cathy was a Red Hat Lady, a member of a Book Club in Glendo, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and watched Jeopardy! faithfully on TV. She loved wearing pocket-laden comfy shirts coordinated with matching earrings and shoes. She especially loved visiting with her grandchildren and traveling with her sister, Nancy.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Nancy B Daly. Cathy is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Daly, her sons and their families, and younger half-sister, Beth Kennon of McKinney, Texas.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Wheatland, Wyoming is handling the arrangements. Donations in Cathy’s memory can be made to the Marge Cares Foundation of Glendo, Wyoming, P.O. Box 98, Glendo, Wyoming 82213 - contact Candy Geringer. Condolence messages may be sent to the family at www.gormanfh.com.
