CHARLES REESE Obituary

Charles Vining Reese, 82, passed away quietly on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at his ranch home south of Shawnee, Wyoming.

Funeral services will be held on Friday March 12. 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at the Jackalope Events Center, 203 North Sixth Street, Douglas, Wyoming.  Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Charles was born in Lusk, Wyoming, on Sunday, August 14, 1938, son of the late Charlie Loren Reese and Roberta Katheryne (Vining) Reese, who preceded him in death.

Charles married Cheri Jacquelin Frederick in Gillette, Wyoming 57 years ago.

He is survived by his wife Cheri; daughter Cheryl; and sons, Norman C. (Alethea), Brett G. (Chrisann), and Brad (Heather).  He has 12 grandchildren, Aaron and Andra Zimmerman, Micah, Kaela, and Anneli Reese, Kelsey, Mackenzi, and Lexie Reese, and Cody, Shelby, Paige, and Chase Reese.  He is also survived by his honorary daughter, Darla Rouse; his sister, Rita Koeplin; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Charles grew up on the ranch south of Shawnee, and lived his whole life there. He graduated from Glendo High School in 1956, and bought his first piece of land at that time.  He continued to farm with his family on land homesteaded by his grandparents, George and Grace Reese, in 1914. Whether it was fixing fences, windmills, or farm equipment his favorite saying was, “We’ll find a way.”

Charles was a long-time member of the American Sunday School Union, Manville Community Church, and Unity Christian Fellowship.

He served his country in the Army National Guard for six years. Charles enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri for country music concerts. He attended many farm auctions, visiting with friends and neighbors there.

He was very supportive of his children and grandchildren in their events and goals. Many evenings were spent quizzing them on spelling words. This was hard work for the kids, but they enjoyed bringing home their awards from county and state championships. He attended many sporting events and tournaments for wrestling, football, volleyball, and basketball.

On Charles’ behalf, the family would like to thank his friends and members of the Unity Christian Fellowship Church for their help and prayers during his long battle with cancer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the National Rifle Association (NRA), 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22030 or the charity of your choice.
