CHARLES "SNAKE" AMBROSE Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of 87-year-old, Charles Themar “SNAKE” Ambrose of Rolling Hills/Glenrock, Wyoming on Wednesday, April 29, 2029. Snake passed away in his home from natural causes.

He was born Friday, March 24,1939 in Sterling, Illinois the son of Ivan John Ambrose and Edith Ellen (Skrogstad) Ambrose.

Snake served in the United States Navy from June 28, 1956 to January 8, 1960 where he spent most of his time on the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown. Snake received an honorable discharge from service.

Snake spent the next 15 years in and out of California where he worked in a glass plant and then a plant that rebuilt oil well pumps. Spending vacation time with his family in a California desert, he taught himself everything he could about snakes and so the nickname, “Snake Skinner”, came to his life, later it was shortened to Snake.

In 1976 he moved his family to their forever home, Wyoming. He was an outdoorsman, a mountain man, a fisherman, and a hunter of both large and small game. A man that not only loved but respected mother nature and the mountains. As age came, so did more friends and the motorcycles. Snake rode across the country several times and many stories of these trips have been told. The “Biker Family” he was surrounded with was an amazing group of people and the unity of that brotherhood will never be forgotten.

Military Services will be held at the Glenrock Cemetery on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 9:00 A.M. accorded by United States Navy Funeral Honors and Jesse Martin American Legion Post #9.

The Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming assisted with the arrangements.
