A Celebration of Life service for Cory Eugene Yingling, 57, was held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Glenrock High School Gymnasium, 225 Oregon Trail, Glenrock, Wyoming with Pastor John Larramendy officiating.
Cory Eugene Yingling of Glenrock, Wyoming, passed away on the evening of Monday, January 12, 2026, in a motor vehicle accident just outside of Rolling Hills, Wyoming. He was born on Friday, January 3, 1969 to Gale Lynn and Danae Myrlene Yingling in Casper, Wyoming.
Cory spent his earliest years in Rawlins, but moved back to Casper before graduating from Kelly Walsh High School in 1987. Upon graduation, Cory enrolled at the University of Wyoming, spending his days cheerleading and powerlifting, before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Joette Lyn McAtee, and the first two of his three children, Tiffany and Thomas. Cory and Joette were married in 1992, moved to Glenrock shortly after, where he first began teaching and coaching for Converse County School District #2, and welcomed their youngest son, Taylor, in 1995.
Cory spent over thirty years with the school district in Glenrock. In that time, he was an industrial arts teacher, football coach, head coach of the cheerleading and wrestling teams, and the technology director across the entire district. He loved every aspect of his career there, and made sure that no student ever went without a teacher in their corner, no athlete went without a coach to bring out their best, and no fellow member of the staff went without the means to do what teachers do best.
As one might expect, Cory was a man beloved by generations of students, faculty, and their families, no matter how many times he would give them an out of body experience with an unexpected, thundering, “WHAT’S GOING ON IN HERE?” in a moment of otherwise calm silence. Only completely silent when he decided to be, Mr. Yingling’s presence was more often announced by his heavy footsteps in the school hallways, and the jingling of his ring of unending keys, of which he knew the purpose of each and every one.
At home, Cory was the loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather that served as a beacon of what any true family man should aspire to be. Every family member knew the warmth and safety he provided, but Cory’s defining attribute in his 57 years of incredible life, was his genuine, one-of-a-kind ability to love. A person could not know him without feeling loved, respected, and valued.
Upon retiring from the school district, he took on a new job with the Converse County Government, ensuring that he would be home every night to spend time with his wife, the love of his life, Joette. Dopey and Bingo, as they affectionately referred to one another, shared an incredible, unique bond which serves as a blueprint for the sort of love and companionship which inspired anyone fortunate enough to bear witness to it.
Cory was loved by all who had the good fortune to meet him, and he will be missed tremendously. He is survived by his wife, Jo Yingling, of Rolling Hills; children, Tiffany (Nick) Larramendy of Casper, Thomas (Ashley) Suggs of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Taylor (Richelle) Yingling of Glenrock; step father, Arthur Genzler of Casper; grandchildren, Maddy Balcazar, Teagen Larramendy, Camden Suggs, Carter Suggs, Trinton (Shawntel) Larramendy, and Trevor Larramendy; and great grandson, Izack Larramendy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gale Yingling on August 13, 1996; mother, Danae Genzler on May 16, 2024; brother, Scotty Gale Yingling on November 24, 1966; and sister, Kimberly Lynnae Yingling on May 2, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Glenrock Wrestling Club in care of Don Flynn, P.O. Box 872, Glenrock, Wyoming 82637 would be appreciated by the family.
