DARLENE RUTH (JENKINS) ZIMMERMAN

Darlene Ruth Zimmerman, 80, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland, Wyoming.

Darlene was born on Friday, January 31, 1941 in Torrington, Wyoming the daughter of Sidney Amos and Florence (Hitt) Jenkins.

Darlene attended Chugwater and Wheatland schools as she grew up.  Darlene married Rollans Rae Zimmerman on February 28, 1958 at the United Methodist Church in Wheatland.  They had two sons and two adopted grandsons that they raised as their sons, Nathan and Taylor. 

Darlene worked in her younger years at the Platte County Memorial Hospital as a CNA and at the Platte County School district as a lunch lady.  She also worked at Basins Inc. helping bag rock and painting rock.  In her spare time, she loved to garden, wood working, and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Rollans Zimmerman of Wheatland; sons, Steve (Marty) of Torrington and Mike (Susan) of Wheatland; grandchildren, Keenan (Kimberly) of Texas, Ethan of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Makayla of Torrington,  Quinn, and Brandon Zimmerman both of Wheatland; eight siblings, Sid Jenkins of Grand Junction, Colorado, Robert Jenkins of Wheatland, Phil (Sharon) of Laramie, Hugh (Doris) of Wheatland, Chuck of Rawlins, Kenneth (Patty) of Wheatland, Gerald (Patty) of Wheatland, Emma Werner of  Torrington, Elizabeth Zimmerman of Cheyenne, and Lucinda of Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sidney in 1989; mother, Florence in 2001; and a sister, Alma Welty in 2012.

A memorial to the Chugwater Cemetery, for the help of up keeping the cemetery would be appreciated by the family.

A service for Darlene will be held later in the fall.
