A graveside service for David Phillip Lowry, 74, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 25th, 2022 at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland, Wyoming with The Reverend Jill Zimmerschied of Christ Episcopal Church officiating.
David Phillip Lowry was born on Tuesday, May 20th, 1947 in the town of Clinton, Oklahoma. He went home to his heavenly Father, passing away peacefully, on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022, surrounded by family and friends.
David was beloved by his daughters, mother, sister, grandchildren, and friends. He lived a life of grace, and abundantly shared his love, time, and wealth with those around him, especially people in need.
David knew no strangers – they were just future friends yet to be made. His humor and unbounded curiosity for understanding other peoples’ stories made David a popular and well-liked part of the communities that he lived in across cities of Tulsa, Columbus, Wheatland, Laramie and Denver.
He always knew what to say to make someone feel seen, heard, and important. He sought out joy and fun, living up to the title of ‘biggest flirt’ bestowed by his senior classmates at Wheatland High in ‘65.
David loved his sports teams, be it the Buckeyes at The Ohio State University, the Cowboys at the University of Wyoming, or the Sooners at the University of Oklahoma. We know he is up in Heaven and will be providing celestial support to his teams this coming year, especially as they take on their rivals of Michigan, Colorado State, or Texas.
David lived a fulfilling life working for over 40 years for Public Service of Oklahoma, Central & Southwest, and finally American Electric Power. In those four decades, David experienced the automation and evolution of meter reading and customer information systems in the electric utility industry.
David received his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance & Accounting from the University of Tulsa in 1995. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (BS) from the University of Wyoming in 1969, where he was a fraternity member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. In 1965, he graduated from Wheatland High School in Wheatland, Wyoming where he lettered in Track & Field, Football, and Basketball.
He is survived by his mother, Roberta Lowry Chase, daughters, Jennifer Lowry and Jessica Finnessy, grandchildren Jordi Isern Lowry, Caitlin Finnessy, Anna Isern Lowry, and Lauren Finnessy, sons-in-law, Roger Isern and Jim Finnessy, his sister Elizabeth Jefferson and brother-in-law, Thomas Jefferson.
David had requested that his ashes be interred at a graveside ceremony during the Wheatland ‘Old Grads’ Reunion on June 25th, 2022.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
