DAVID ST. JOHN Obituary

Funeral services for David John St. John, 71, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 9, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating.  Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery with military honors accorded by Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8 and F.E. Warren Air Force Base Honor Guard.

David St. John died Monday, January 2, 2023 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.

He was born Saturday, November 10, 1951 in Rochester, New York the son of Francis Robert and Monica Louisa (Boss) St. John the third of five boys.

David attended Edison Technical Catholic School and graduated in 1970.  On January 15, 1971, he entered the United States Army and completed basic training at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, then moved to Ft. Leonard Wood for additional training. In 1989 David joined the Wyoming National Air Guard and retired on February 6, 2009, as Chief Master Sergeant. David served in Germany, Norway, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Italy, El Salvador, Great Inagua, Kansas, Missouri, and the San Diego border wall. A brief time was spent in Colorado before moving to Wyoming in 1979; He married Diana Tedder in 1972, whom he later divorced. During this marriage, he welcomed his three children, Michael (1973), Robert (1975), and Michelle (1976). Later, David married the love of his life, Denise Marie (Hougland) Hirsch on June 15, 2001, gaining two daughters, Angela (1977) and Mandy (1978). David was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to take his bride camping. Additionally, he enjoyed supporting all of his grandchildren in all of their various activities.

David was well-known and loved by many due to his many years of service in the
community. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be
severely missed by his loving family and his many friends. Rest in peace until we meet again.

David is survived by his wife, Denise St. John of Douglas; children, Michael St. John of Mills, Wyoming, Robert (Dixie) St. John of Kenai, Alaska, Michelle (Chuck) Price of Douglas, Angela (Chris) Lusk of Evansville, Wyoming, and Mandy (Jared) Vollman of Douglas; brothers, Robert (Wendy) St. John of Albion, New York, Arthur (Gayle) St. John of Broomfield, Colorado, and Daniel (Rita) St. John of Fort Collins, Colorado; numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis, on November 13, 2012; mother, Monica, on March 5, 2013 and brother, Donald St. John, on September 16, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8, P.O. Box 1, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff St. John, Robert St. John, Jared Vollman, Chuck Price, Chris Mortensen, and Fred Teal.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Michael St. John, Chris Lusk, Zander Vollman, Carl Lusk, Dax Read, and Clarence Peplinski.  

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
