Delbert Derald Dick, 92 was born Tuesday, February 5, 1929 on a farm near O’Neill, Nebraska the son of John Frederick and Martha (Ernst) Dick and passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Wyoming.
Delbert began his ministry preaching in small rural communities in Nebraska. He joined the American Sunday School Union (now InFaith) on February 1st, 1953 and continued preaching, holding Bible studies, and organizing Vacation Bible Schools throughout small communities in Nebraska, followed by Northern Wyoming and Southeastern Wyoming. He directed Camp Grace from 1966-1996. Those who knew Delbert know that he never truly retired from this work that he believed God had called him to do.
Delbert met Dorothy Wasson in 1958 when she came from Missouri to Wyoming to teach Vacation Bible School. Before the end of the summer, Delbert and Dorothy were engaged. They were married July 23, 1959.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dick, of Douglas; his three children, David (Pam) Dick of Douglas, Dean (Teresa) Dick of Veteran, Wyoming, and Dixie (Victor) Massey of Enumclaw, Washington; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Delbert was preceded in death by his father, John, in 1981; mother, Martha, in 1976; and siblings, Clifford Ray Dick, on July 22, 2005, Fern Grace Hornback, on June 18, 1972, and Esther Georgia Dick, on December 22, 2018.
A service to honor his life, followed by a light lunch, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 12, 2021 at the Wheatland Bible Church, 597 Ferguson Road, Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Danny Fredericks officiating. Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
