Diona Copsey passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, Wyoming surrounded by her family.

Diona was born on Monday, April 5, 1948 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska the daughter of Keith Lavine and Betty Mae (Krull) Seip.

Diona spent her early years on the farm. Her mom went to work in town when Diona was 11 so she, among other things, proudly prepared meals for her Daddy to be ready when he would come in from working out in the field. She lived in the same farm yard as her grandparents, and spent many quality moments with them. She also knew and spent quality time with four of her great grandparents. Family was an important part of Diona’s life. She had wonderful parents, grandparents, and great grandparents and made it a goal to give back all the love that she had been given. She had one brother and they “fought” all the time but one of the first titles she earned and was proud of was being “Seip’s Little Sister”. She made many close friends throughout her early years, and she told stories about those fiends and time spent together until her last days.

On April 7, 1969 Diona married Monty Copsey. Diona was born on April 5 and Monty was born on April 9, both in 1948, so April 7 seemed like the perfect day for them to be wed. To that union two beautiful baby girls were born. Diona had always dreamed of having a baby girl and naming her Lori Ann. Lori Ann was the first of the girls born, followed by Amy Michele. Those girls, followed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, would prove to be the greatest

blessings God would bestow upon Diona’s life. Although their union ended, Monty and Diona remained friends for the sake of their girls, and Lori and Amy remained her main focus in life.

Diona held many occupations in her life including working as a store clerk at Hested’s and JCPenney, being the bookkeeper at Monty’s Conoco, being the Assistant Manager at Tiny Tot’s Daycare, and for 16 years a Para-Educator for the Guernsey-Sunrise Schools. Through each of these positions she gained many friends and many honorary grandchildren. Although she did each of those jobs with pride, no job meant more to her than being a daughter, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister and aunt.

Diona was a proud American and one of her greatest collections, that she took pride in, was her Americana collection. Going on a trip to Washington DC as a delegate to the National Education Association (NEA) and seeing the White House, National monuments, and being able to proudly boast that she saw “everything” was a highlight of her life.

Diona was a very proud Christian. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Guernsey, and served as the church secretary for many years. In her last months when her health kept her from attending church every Sunday, it didn’t keep her from her relationship with Christ. A favorite saying of hers was from a song, “When you find I’m all you have; you’ll find I’m all you need.” The family gathered for a Father’s Day barbeque the night before she passed and hearing how much peace that gave her explained to them why she was called home the very next day.

Diona is survived by daughters, Lori (Shane) Morales and Amy Copsey, both of Guernsey; grandchildren, Kayla (Kevin) Gross of Sunrise, Wyoming, Kyler (Jody) Copsey of Lusk, Wyoming, Kassidy (Braxton Langenderfer) Morales of Rawlins, Wyoming, Misty , Philyp, LillyAnn, Skiler, Hunter, and Donna, all of Guernsey; great grandchildren, Bryce, Jayden, Kayden, Karter, Kamryn, and Harper; her beloved dog, Bella Mae; brother, Galen (Julia) Seip; nephew, Daren (Kendra) Seip; nieces, Andee Hardesty and Christine (Phil) Darley all of Scottsbluff; her close friend, Larry Zitterkoph and his son, Matt. She was also survived by many foster and honorary grandchildren and many beloved friends.

Diona was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and great grandparents, one grandson, and a great grandchild.

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
