A funeral service for Donald Levon Cochran, 84, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland with Pastor Dan Barcus officiating.
Donald “Levon” Cochran passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at his home in Fort Laramie, Wyoming.
Levon was born in Wheatland on Monday, February 28, 1938, the son of Glen and Helen (Moon) Cochran.
He attended Wheatland schools, graduating in 1956. He accepted Christ as a young teen and joined the First Christian Church. He attended Platte Valley Bible College for one year. Growing up he was active in 4-H, baseball, wrestling, football, and basketball.
He served two years in the United States Army from 1961 to 1962. Levon farmed west of Wheatland for many years. He met and married Charlyne Austin in 1973. To this union, four children were born, Levi, Merlo, Ross, and Kyla. In 1994, Levon sold the farm and bought a ranch north of Fort Laramie, where he resided at the time of his death. Most hours were spent tending cattle, crops, or kids, but if time allowed, he enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and fishing.
Levon was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and older brother, Glendal Cochran, also deceased in 2022.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Charlyne (Austin) Cochran; son, Levi (Rebecca) Cochran, and four step grandsons, one grandson, and two granddaughters of Lingle, Wyoming; daughter, Merlo (David) Schardt, and three granddaughters and one grandson of Fort Laramie; son, Ross (Cynthia) Cochran, and two grandsons of Winter Haven, Florida; daughter, Kyla (Casey) Foltz, and two grandsons of Casper, Wyoming; brother, Denzil (Dorothy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
