Donald Duane Durst passed away Thursday, February 12th, 2026 at age 94 at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas, Wyoming with his son and daughter-in-law at his side.
Don was born Wednesday, January 27th, 1932, in Mitchell, South Dakota to Harry James and Alice Susann (Lang) Durst. Don was the second youngest out of ten children.
In his early years, Don competed in professional rodeos, riding broncs for 15 years and winning many rodeos throughout the country. Don then went on to work construction and then to auto body school. Don owned his own body shop in Douglas and worked for car dealerships before retiring.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred E. Durst, on April 20, 2014; his parents, Harry on July 26, 1965 and Alice in April, 1962; all his siblings; granddaughter, Lori; and sons-in-law, Shannon Purviance and Joe Reina.
Don is survived by his children, Kathy Reina of California, Polly Purviance of Casper, Wyoming, Ted (Lori) Durst of Douglas, and Gail (Randy) Gilmore of California;11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
At Don’s request, no services will be held.
The Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
