DOROTHY EVELYN (WHITE) MOONEY

A funeral service for Dorothy Evelyn Mooney, 89, will be held at 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Trinity Baptist Church, 1418 Griffith Way, Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Fred Dyer and Reverend Ed Rafferty officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Dorothy Mooney passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas.

Dorothy was born Tuesday, April 12, 1932 in Ludell, Kansas the daughter of Clyde Orin and Dorothy Mabel (Baumfalk) White.  The family moved from Ludell to Cedaredge and Leadville, Colorado where she was raised and received her education.  She graduated from the Cedaredge High School and then attended the Barnes School of Business in Denver, Colorado. Dorothy with her family moved to Cheyenne, where she met the love of her life, Merle Frederick Mooney.  They were married on June 20, 1954 in Cheyenne at F.E. Warren Air Force Base Chapel.  Dorothy and Merle raised their family and worked in Cheyenne, until moving to Douglas in the Fall, 2013. 

She was very active with the Calvary Baptist Church in Cheyenne and Happy Jack Country Church at Granite Canon, Wyoming.  She was a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, producer of the bulletins, and decorating the fellowship hall at the Calvary Baptist Church.  They attended Trinity Baptist Church in Douglas since 2013.

She enjoyed in her younger years snowmobiling at their cabin in the Snowy Range and later fishing in the area, also she took great pride in her sewing, crocheting, flower arranging, and making wedding cakes.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Merle, of Douglas; children, Sherrill (Roy) Kilpatrick of Douglas and David (Linda) Mooney of Cape Coral, Florida; brother, Clarence “Chuck” White of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Matthias (Michele) Kilpatrick of Laramie, Wyoming, Jason Kilpatrick of Douglas, Nathan Kilpatrick of Douglas, and Rebecca (Paul) Franz of Valley Cottage, New York; great granddaughter, Zophia Evelyn Franz of Valley Cottage; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde, on May 8, 1995; mother, Dorothy, on April 24, 2003; and brother, Lester O. White, on May 5, 2000.

A memorial to the Trinity Baptist Church Piano Fund, 1418 Griffith Way, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
