EDWARD ROBERT REIBER JR.

Funeral services for Edward Robert Reiber Jr., 75, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Douglas Baptist Church, 135 Pearson Road, Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Brad Jenkins officiating.

Edward passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 at his home near Glendo, Wyoming with his wife at his bedside.

He was born Thursday, August 3, 1950, weighing 3 pounds 15 ounces.  He was the only child for his father Eward Robert Reiber Sr. and mother Orpha Dorothy (Keil) Reiber.  Orpha was from Brookhaven/Chester, Pennsylvania and Edward Sr. was from Sutton, Nebraska. Both parents were of German descent.

Edward Jr. was the only remaining member of his family.  His father died in 1979 and his mother died in 2004.  Folks in Pennsylvania addressed Edward Jr. as Robert to eliminate confusion from his Dad having the same name.

In the late 1950’s, Ed’s uncle got him interested in guns, hunting, and fishing.  Guns would remain an important part of Ed’s life to the end. 

At the age of 12 in 1962, Ed went to a Billy Graham Crusade in Philadelphia, where he made a profession of faith, the most important and happy decision of his life. 

In 1966, Ed became involved in fighting fires.  He continued to further his fire fighting training to the end. 

In December, 1968, Ed began a career at Transworld Airlines in maintenance retiring 25 years later.  However, retirement wasn’t a familiar term to Ed.  He became involved in law enforcement in 1994 after putting himself through the Basic Training.  He would still be employed in law enforcement had COVID not destroyed his health in 2020.

He actually worked for Oxford Police Department and West Nottingham Township at the same time in Pennsylvania.  Ed moved to Wyoming in 2005, where he continued in law enforcement initially at Glendo State Park, then for Platte County Sheriff Office, and U.S. Marshalls.  He was a faithful Volunteer for the Glendo Fire Department.  He also spent summers on Wild Land Fire Fighting.

Edward is survived by his wife, Joyce Reiber of Glendo; step children Jason (Katie) Pierce of Douglas, Autum (Brandon) Werner of Douglas, and Amber (Adam) Thorpe of Casper, Wyoming; and grandchildren, Gary Pierce, June Werner, Ruth Werner, Ally Murray, Richelle Herrera, Jerrett Herrera, Brinn Thorpe, and Taylor Thorpe.

Serving as urn-bearer will be Jason Griess.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of the grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Central Wyoming Hospice Home, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601 or Douglas Baptist Church Youth Group, 135 Pearson Road, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
