ERVIN WRIGHT Obituary

Ervin Doyle Wright “ED”, 88, of Douglas, Wyoming, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula (Ratliff) Wright, on February 5, 2005; son Larry Blair, on July 28, 2011; parents, Joseph and Sarah (Methvin) Wright; and numerous siblings.

He is survived by his brother, Jessie Wright; daughter, Nancie (Blair) Jones; his son, JD Wright; grandchildren, Brady, Alyssa, and Shane Roche, Jared Wright, Kelsey Crabtree, and Sarah Roth; and numerous great grandchildren.

Ervin was born Monday, November 25th, 1929 in Henderson, Texas. He grew up helping his father on their family farm. At a young age he began to learn the carpenter and concrete trade from his brothers. During the Texas oil boom, he started his adventure in the oil field. After working on the rigs he learned to drive trucks which lead him into pipe transport to and for the Alaskan Pipeline. It was at this time he met and married his late wife, Eula, and went on to start a construction business with his brother, Jessie, in Illinois. During this time, he discovered a passion for ironwork in industrial power plants. This brought him to the open spaces of Wyoming. While working construction he attended Casper College in pursuit of an apprenticeship for Iron Workers Union Local #454.  He helped build many structures and power plants across the state of Wyoming. He was well known for his climbing skills on tall structures. In 1985 he retired while living in Douglas.

He enjoyed ranching, fishing, and hunting. He also spent his time with his family as well as his special friend, Alice Reed. Ervin also enjoyed watching football and boxing with a bowl of ice cream. He was a jack of all trades and a true handy man.
