A Celebration of Life service will be held for Gene Edward Morton, 68, at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. A graveside service will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Gene Morton died Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital in Casper, Wyoming.
Gene was born Sunday, May 4, 1952 in Gordon, Nebraska the son of Ray and Edna Josephine (Ainslie) Morton. He was raised and educated in Douglas and graduated from the Douglas High School. He attended and received a certificate for auto body repair at WyoTech school in Laramie, Wyoming.
He was married to Theresa Pauline “Terry” Hawthorn on June 4, 1972 in Douglas.
His working career entailed working at a body shop, in construction, and he worked with his father at Ray’s Texaco in Douglas.
He was married to Susan A. (Carlson) Wilson on May 9, 2007 in Reno, Nevada.
Gene enjoyed doing wood working projects.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Wilson-Morton of Douglas; children, Patrichia “Trish” Baker of Sheridan, Wyoming, Christina (Travis) Smith of Douglas, and Zachariah “Zach” Morton of Douglas; grandchildren, Bill Edwards, Bradly Edwards, Dean Baker, Lee Baker, Tye Baker, and Erin Burns.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Ray, on April 26, 1995; mother, Edna, on May 28, 2010; and first wife, Terry, on February 20, 1999.
A Gene E. Morton Memorial Fund in care of the Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
