Funeral services for Harold Dean Hastings, 67, will held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Chaplain Pamela Kandt officiating.
Harold Hastings died Sunday, March 3, 2019 surrounded by his immediate family at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home in Casper, Wyoming.
Harold was born Friday, August 10, 1951 in San Diego, California the son of Harold Elgie and Helen May (Palmer) Hastings. He was raised and educated in San Diego and graduated from high school in 1969. He moved to Colorado, where he started his oilfield career. In the late 1970’s he moved to Wyoming where he worked for Exeter Drilling, Nabors Drilling, and Sauer Drilling. He along with Bill Sauer formed a partnership and started the DHS Drilling Company in the early 2000’s. In 2007 he retired from drilling and became a consultant until ill health forced him into retirement for the second time in August, 2014. Harold was very dedicated to his work during his entire working career.
Harold was married to Donna K. Watkins in December, 1980. The marriage ended in divorce after 35 years of marriage.
Harold enjoyed family time, fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He loved spending time at his cabin near Esterbrook. During his retirements years he took up two new hobbies, making jelly and canning.
Harold is survived by his mother, Helen Hastings, of San Diego; children, Roger (Penny) Hastings of Vancouver, Washington, Harold G. (Renae) Hastings of Colton, South Dakota; Peggy (Matt) Zeimens of Carpenter, Wyoming, Sonja (Jerry) Bryan of Casper, and Rachel (Sean) Gamble of Glenrock; siblings, Linda Biggs of San Diego, Bill Hastings of Hauser, Oregon, Dennis Hastings of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Edward Hastings of San Diego; grandchildren, Haley, Tyler, Hayden, Hillary, Aidan, Jonah, Carlene, Mason, Serenity, Kyra, Dillon, and Makalyln; and great grandchildren, Aurora and Adrian.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold E. Hastings and siblings, Anita Hastings and Michael Hastings.
A memorial to the Central Wyoming Hospice Home, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601 would be appreciated by the family
