Graveside services for Jack Lipps, 73, will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Casey Schroeder of the First Christian Church officiating.
Jack passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.
Jack was the first born to Raymond and Olive (Baker) Lipps on Friday, October 22, 1948 in Wheatland. When very young, he and his family moved to Killeen, Texas due to Raymond’s military career. After a divorce, his mother moved back to Wheatland with Jack and his brother, Ken. Jack was a member of the football and basketball teams through school, graduating from Wheatland High School in 1967. He was drafted into the United States Army in the fall of 1967, with a tour of duty in Vietnam. He returned to Wheatland in 1970.
Jack married Sandra Laird on March 14, 1970 in Wheatland, they made their home in Lander, Wyoming where he worked for Safeway. He was made Assistant Manager in 1974 and the family moved first to Newcastle (1974) and then Rawlins in (1976). Jack and Sandra divorced in 1983, but remained good friends. After 12 years with Safeway, Jack went to work for Davis Distributing in Rawlins, continuing in that career for several years. In 2006, Jack moved back to Wheatland where he was again employed with Safeway until the time of his passing. He was a member of the Wheatland Moose Lodge. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, jigsaw puzzles, and cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Jack is survived by his children, Gary (Kasey) Lipps of Evansville, Indiana and Stacia (Dale) Call of Wheatland; his brothers, John (Jean) Carberry of Wheatland and John Lipps of Macon, Georgia; sisters, Donnis Throne of Denver, Colorado, Deborah (Doug) Norton of Bel Air, Maryland, and Delilah (Brad) Knapp of Carmel, Indiana; grandchildren, Cody (Olivia) Lipps of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Courtnee Lipps of Evansville, Indiana, and Tyler and Hunter Call of Wheatland; one great grandchild, Cooper Jack Lipps of Cheyenne, Wyoming; as well as cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Lipps in 2014 and Olive Carberry in 1965; brother, Kenneth Lipps in 2002; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his lifelong best friend, Gary Karriker.
