JACK McNARE Obituary

Jack V. McNare died in peace at his home with his partner, Jo Martinez, and his daughter, Jacqueline McNare, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. He was born on Wednesday, February 25, 1931, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Vern L. McNare and Alice E. (Jones) McNare.  When he was three years old, his family moved to Douglas, Wyoming.

Jack graduated from Douglas High School in 1949. Following graduation, he served in the United States Marines. While in the military, he married Dee Gee Schroeder on May 31, 1953 and they settled in Englewood, California. They had three children, Virginia, Jacqueline, and Cynthia. They divorced in 1967. On October 15, 1987 he became a long time, romantic partner with Jo Martinez, where they resided in Palm Springs, California. They celebrated 36 years of love in December.

Jack was a loyal member of the Elks Organization, Moose Lodge, and the American Legion. After his eight years serving as sergeant in the Marines, He went to work as supervisor for Griffith Company, where his work left a lasting mark across Southern California, His crew built, paved, graded and widened more miles of freeway, streets and roads than just about any contractor in the West.

In the late 60’s Jack started his own contractor company, Ionic Construction. Then in 1970 he started his second company JR Construction, where he worked until retirement in 2004.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jim McNare and his wife Garland McNare; sister Virginia Belt and her husband Logan Belt Sr.; niece Sonya Morgareidge; and his grandson Joseph Turbeville,

Surviving in addition to his life partner, are his daughters Virginia Donovan, Jacqueline McNare, and her husband Michael Maslonka, Cynthia Feskie and her husband Mike Feskie; three grandchildren Charles Adam Turbeville, Jolene Vidovich, Hollie Rose; four great grandchildren, Paige Vidovich, Trevor Vidovich, Parker Rose, and Garrett Rose; one brother, Art McNare; and many nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Gorman Funeral Home - Converse Chapel, 1147 Cheyenne Street, Douglas, Wyoming. Viewing will be held at 1:00 P.M., service at 2:00 P.M., burial at Douglas Park Cemetery. After services we will all meet at the Douglas Moose Lodge in Douglas, 120 North Second Street.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jackie McNare, Charles Adam Turbeville, Michael Maslonka, and Ron McNare.
