JAMES CALDWELL Obituary

No services for James Leroy Caldwell, 77, will be held at this time.

James passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Wyoming. 

James Caldwell was born in Torrington, Wyoming on Tuesday, March 25, 1947 the son of Chester Clyde and Margaret (Stimpert) Caldwell.

James was raised and educated in Torrington and graduated from Torrington High School in 1965.  He entered in to the United States Army National Guard in 1965.  He worked for Camp Guernsey for 25 years, following his retirement from the National Guard he drove for Pixley Transportation for a few years.  He was a conductor/engineer for Union Pacific railroad fifteen years.  He retired from the railroad in 2009. 

He married Leota (Cohee) Galligar on November 23, 1971 in Torrington.  James enjoyed working on his motorcycle and traveling on his motorcycle with his wife.  The attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally from 1971 to 2014.   

James is survived by his wife, Leota Caldwell of Douglas; daughters, Shiela Oliver and Amber (Frank) Elmore both of Fort Laramie, Wyoming; grandchildren, Gloria Oliver, Alanae Oliver, Boyd Oliver, Dillon Caldwell, Dalton Elmore, Preston Elmore, and Alexis Elmore; great grandchildren, Hayden Oliver, Sawyer Caldwell, and Evalynn Caldwell; and sister, Jane Fritzler of Torrington.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Caldwell; mother, Margaret Caldwell; and brothers, Donnie Caldwell and Jerry Caldwell.
