James Anthony Degano, age 82, passed unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2026 at his home near Douglas, Wyoming.
He was born on Sunday, April 2, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland the son of Anthony James and Bertha Elizabeth (Schaub) Degano.
Jim served his country as a United States Army Ranger in the 173rd Airborne Brigade from 1963 -1969 where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and fought in the Vietnam War.
A deep love of animals and wide-open spaces inspired Jim to relocate to Wyoming in 1987 where he worked on the railroads and in the mines.
Jim was married to Delores Marie “Dolly” Degano who preceded him in death on January 23, 2019.
He was survived by his son, grandchildren, his sister, step daughter, and granddaughter, as well as several family members and friends.
Jim was interned at the Cheyenne National Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyoming at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 4, 2026 with military honors accorded by the Wyoming Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors.
The Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming was in charge of the arrangements.
