James G. Pilarczyk, 92, of Douglas, Wyoming passed away Wednesday, September 21,2022 at the Douglas Care Center, following a brief battle with cancer. Services will be held at a later date.
He was born in Yorktown, Texas on Tuesday, July 8,1930, to Jerome G. Pilarczyk and Elizabeth Kate (Styra) Strakos. He served in the United States Air Force, as a pilot, from 1948-52, during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, S. Estelle Smith, on July 17, 1951 in Lordsburg, New Mexico.
They made their home in Bisbee, Arizona, where he worked for Phelps Dodge Corporation. He moved to Toquepala, Peru to work for Southern Peru Copper Corporation from 1963-65. James returned to Bisbee to work for Copper Queen Mine, until it closed in 1975. Bringing him to Wyoming in 1977 where he worked at the uranium mine, M.H.C.C, and N.A.R.M until retirement, he was the first to officially retire from there, in Douglas, Wyoming. He remained a resident of Douglas until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lucille “Boots" and Helen; and Estelle, his wife, of 62. years.
He is survived by his children, Linda Trewet (Glenn) of Bayfield, Colorado, Michael Pilarczyk, of Douglas, Sharon Jenkins (Ron), of Douglas; and Kimberly Carpenter of Wheatland, Wyoming; grandkids, Analise, Stephen (Beth), Nolan (Steph), Mandy (Marco), Alexandra, Kassi (Evan), and Bryce;14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
