A celebration of life for Jerry R. Kramer, 78, was held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Lake Guernsey VFW in Guernsey, Wyoming.
Jerry Russell Kramer passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Elkhorn Valley Rehab Hospital in Casper, Wyoming.
Jerry was born on Tuesday, September 26, 1944, the son of Ray and Phyllis (Goslin) Kramer.
Jerry was born and raised in Arthur Nebraska, where he loved bull riding and graduated high school at the top of his class. He went on to attend the University of Wyoming and concurrently obtained his pilot’s license. Jerry then moved to California, where he operated a leather shop before eventually moving on to work for BNSF. During his time with the railroad, he worked all over northern Nebraska and various parts of the west and southwest before ultimately settling down in Guernsey, Wyoming. He retired after 30 years.
Jerry married Lana Van Hatten on July 20, 2001, in Torrington, Wyoming.
Jerry loved everything outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gold panning, and hunting arrowheads. He would often take his nephew George canoeing and rattlesnake hunting. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed wood working and leather working. His passion for leather working led him to follow Willie Nelson and get to know his band while selling his leather creations at concert venues.
He is survived by his wife, Lana Kramer of Guernsey, Wyoming; stepchildren, Jessica Jensen and Creed (Amanda) Cobler; grandchildren, Haven, Hadley, Victoria, and David; sister, Lyndall (Felipe) Zavala; nephew, George (Julie) Owen; and great-nephew, Jaryd (Keiko) Owen; great great-nephews, Jaryd Jr., William, and Benjamin; great-niece, Jordyn Owen.
A memorial to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 1275 East Fairfax Road, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103 would be appreciated by the family.
