Jerry Nichols went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 25, 2025 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland, Wyoming. His focus in life was his faith in the Lord, family, and friends. He loved to use his talents to help other and he always managed to find the time to help.
Jerry was born on Wednesday, March 6, 1935 in Truscott, Texas. He attended elementary and high school in Olton, Texas where he lived until 1959, when he moved to Jackson, Wyoming.
He loved the beauty of the mountains and the camping, hunting and fishing. He moved to Pinedale, Wyoming where he owned Jerry’s Conoco, a bulk plant; auto parts store; and managed a trucking company.
He was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Pinedale. He had a special place in his heart for Red Cliff Bible Camp, which he helped develop and construct. He served on the first Board of Directors for the camp, which celebrated its 50th Anniversary this summer.
He moved to Wheatland, Wyoming in 1990, when he married Judy Smith.
Jerry and his son, George, started Roadrunner Electric, Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning. He retired in 2000 and then built the old campground at El Rancho into A. O. K. RV park. He continued to help at Roadrunner when needed. He retired a second time in 2002 and became a winter Texan. He spent the winters in Three Rivers, Texas where he became a fulltime fisherman.
Jerry loved life and lived each day to its fullest. He said that he had a blessed life even though the last years of his life were hard. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2022. The disease took his mobility and his active lifestyle.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Venice Nichols; his son, George Nichols; grandson, Ty Hout; and siblings, Wroena Thurman, George Nichols, Shirley Auten and Beverly Nichols.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughter, Elaine (Bill) Hout; daughter-in-law, Susan Nichols; grandchildren, Scott (Sarah) Nichols and Heather Graham; granddaughter-in-law, Jana DeVonlin; great grandchildren, Taylor (Destini) Nichols, Ireland Nichols, MaKenna (Zach) Grasky, Lauryn Hout, Dexter Graham; great-great grandchildren, Paxton Nichols, Kamdyn Grasky, and Blakleigh Hout; and sister, Billie Edwards.
Jerry had many nieces and nephews that he loved to visit.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Wheatland Bible Church with Pastor Danny Fredericks.
Memorials may be made to Red Cliff Bible Camp, P.O. Box 846, Pinedale, Wyoming 82941.
