JESSE MOORE Obituary

Jesse Kendall Moore, born Tuesday, September 13, 1977 to Parker James Moore and Karen Lynn (Gillhouse) Moore, departed our world on Friday, March 3, 2023. Jesse was a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a nephew, a friend. Oh, how he is loved and oh how he will be missed.

Jesse was a Wyoming boy. Born in Douglas, Wyoming, Jesse will be laid to rest on the ranch where his life began. Funeral services will be held at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Douglas on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with a viewing at 9:30 A.M.at the church.  The service will be live streamed at

His first three years were spent at the cowboy-booted heels of his dad at the Ogalalla, the family ranch north of town. He toddled after his cousins and formed the basis of life-long bonds, with some of the deepest friendships in his life being with his Moore cousins.

Jesse was a New Mexico ranch kid. He moved with Parker and Karen to the Cottonwood Ranch outside Roswell and Artesia in 1980. His twin siblings, Ross and Sarah, arrived that October and his role as big brother began. Jesse’s belief in his duty to support them, to set an example for them, to protect and love them, was fixed in his core to the day of his death. Jesse learned to ride a bike, bottle feed baby lambs, and care for a horse in that dusty, hot, wide-open New Mexico space. He and his brother and sister adored their family dogs (especially Ginger) and many cats and took care to dodge tarantulas and rattlesnakes.

Jesse moved to Fruita, Colorado in 1990, in time for his seventh-grade year. Four formative years in the Grand Valley were an opportunity to play and grow with his beloved Ullrey cousins. Camping trips to the Uncompahgre National Forest or the La Sal Mountains, fishing on the Grand Mesa, and skiing at Powderhorn were highlights of Jesse’s childhood. Jesse ran track and participated in high jump and long jump in middle school.

Wyoming became home again in 1994 and Jesse attended two years at Douglas High School, graduating in 1996. He loved backyard volleyball with the high school crowd and his cousins. He officially became a Wyoming Cowboy with four years at University of Wyoming and graduated with honors in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management Information Systems. At UW, Jesse pledged to Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, resulting in some outstanding friendships. He was also something of a standout intramural wallyball player. Jesse met Bobbie Lee Cleland at UW and they were married in July of 1999.

Jesse and Bobbie made their family home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They raised two incredible sons together. Tyson James Moore was born in September 2004 and Travis Austin Moore arrived in November 2007. The boys were the light of his life, and Jesse spent years and miles and dollars, and whatever was needed, supporting their sports and academics. He was proud beyond measure of Tyson’s accomplishments in taekwondo and Travis’s in hockey. Jesse and Bobbie were divorced in 2022. Jesse’s professional life in Colorado Springs revolved around several commercial lending roles with local banks, and he was recognized by his peers as hardworking, trustworthy, and committed.

Jesse’s life was defined by his kindness, his deep loyalty and love for family, his maturity and sense of responsibility, his desire to grow as a student and professional, his pride as a father. His family, immediate and extended, remembers with great joy the trips and adventures and moments they shared together. His family walked with him as he navigated addiction and depression and loved him without waver. His reliance on a Higher Power during this time and throughout his life gave him strength and determination to rise above the hardship.

Jesse is survived by his sons Tyson and Travis Moore, his parents Parker and Julie Moore, his siblings Ross (Erin) Moore and Sarah (Nicholas) Steph, by Bobbie Moore, by his nieces and nephews Eliza Moore, Lodan Moore, Lee Steph, Claire Steph, Krossland Shaw, Piper Shaw (Jake Huen), Bingham Shaw, Ryen Moog, Corbin Moog, Isabel Cleland, and Zander Cleland, and by his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Karen Moore and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to CalHill Recovery Life, 2310 West Monument Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904, a 501(c)(3) organization.
