JOHN EICKBUSH Obituary

John William Eickbush, Jr., 79, of Chugwater, Wyoming, passed away in Cheyenne in the VA Hospital on Monday, April 11, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Chugwater School Gym in Chugwater, Wyoming with Tom Hinkle and Cole Larsen officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Chugwater Cemetery.

John William Eickbush Jr. was born on Wednesday, October 7, 1942, to John W. Sr. and Pearl (O’Hare) Eickbush. He was the second of four children. He was a birthday present for his sister Bonny’s first birthday.  John graduated from Cheyenne East High School in 1961. He joined the Navy in 1964, as a Seabee for four years, and was a Vietnam Vet. He proudly served his country. John was a carpenter by trade.

John married Dora Beaver in 1968. They lived in Cheyenne, Casper, and Thermopolis, Wyoming before returning to Chugwater to farm and ranch. They also lived in Colorado for a while. Their children were a very important part of his life. John and Dora loved all children and would always enjoy watching them play. They also opened their home to John’s sister, Kathy, for two years. John made his choice to serve the Lord 50+ years ago and has remained true to his calling until his final day. John enjoyed church meetings and family time. He was a farmer, mechanic, and a carpenter. He liked working with leather, making ropes, fixing things, digging holes with his backhoe, and doing things outside. John was a member of the Frontier Days Quick Draw Club in Cheyenne and a quick draw club in Casper.

With John's health declining, he had been living with his daughter, Sharleen Johnson, son-in-law, Paul, and granddaughter, Rachel for a couple of months. Even though they did not know that their time was so short, they spent each moment enjoying each other.  Naomi (Cody) Loomis were at his side at a moment’s notice when dad needed anything.

John is survived by his children, Lorraine (Robert) Lovato of Ventura, California, Sharleen (Paul) Johnson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Naomi (Cody) Loomis of Alliance, Nebraska, and Joanna (Mike) Lulf of Potter, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Johnny) Kafesjian, Aaron (Danielle) Lovato, Rachel Johnson, Cade Loomis, Kason Loomis, Reata Loomis, Ryder Loomis, Dora Lulf, and Noah Lulf; great granddaughter, Madison Emery Kafesjian; sisters, Bonny (Ray) Sutter and Kathy (Marty) Cannan; brother-in-law, Elmer (Noaleen) Beaver; several cousins; special nieces and nephews, Cory House, Tonya (Jed) Goodman, Cyndy Vogele, Edward (Mona) Messer, Shad (Debbie) Eickbush, Shareen Muldrow (Doug Brendle), LaDawna (Greg) Friesen, LaCynda Fortik, LaNetta Beaver-Chapman, and many more; aunts, Virginia O’Hare and Alma O’Hare; and several very special cousins.

John was preceded in death by Dora Lorraine (Beaver) Eickbush, his wife of 39 years; sons, Gerald Eickbush, and Peter Eickbush; his parents, John Sr. & Pearl Eickbush; and brother, Ken Eickbush.
