JOHN EMERSON HANSEN

John Emerson Hansen, 82, died on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas, Wyoming.

He was born Tuesday, June 30, 1942 in Rapid City, South Dakota the son of Donald John and Aryle Dale (Snethen) Hansen.  The family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming and John graduated from the Cheyenne High School. 

John worked as a carpenter in Cheyenne and was a general contractor in Rapid City and Cheyenne. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and roping steers.

John was married to Kathleen Edith (Russell) Morrison on February 15, 1986 in Rapid City.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Wheatland, Wyoming; son, Bryan (Laurie) Hansen of Douglas; step daughters, Shawna Heinz of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Amanda Wallace of Cheyenne; brothers, Ron Hansen of Cheyenne and Chris Morrison of Loveland, Colorado; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Robert Nickerson; son, Dean Hansen; and sisters, Shirley Kellum and Donna Everson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer’s Association – Wyoming Chapter, 2232 Dell Range Boulevard, Suite 101, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82009 would be appreciated by the family.
