JOHN LANTOW Obituary

John Cleveland Lantow passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 81 years of age at his home in Douglas, Wyoming with his wife and children at his bedside.

He was born Tuesday, July 2, 1940 in Defiance, Ohio to Henry George Lantow and Marie Elizabeth (Bunn) Lantow.  He married Donna Jo Merz on January 20, 1962 in Oakwood, Ohio, she survives in Douglas.

He was the proud father of Jeff Lantow, Laura and Todd Bunting, Julia and Dale Woirhaye, and Christina and Dan Booth all of Douglas.  All of his grandchildren were his favorites, Wes and Delsa Allen, Mari and Brandon Headrick, Jessica Rhode and David Simpson, Lantow Woirhaye and Jessica Peterson, Keinan Woirhaye, Amber Schulten and George Sladek, Samantha Schulten, Jack and Janet Booth, Missie and Mike McLagan, Maggie Booth, and Adam Booth and eight great grandchildren.  He leaves behind his sisters, Grace Mast of Defiance, Ohio and Dianna Rayle of Continental, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Lantow and Marie and George Curtis; a son, Johnny Lantow Jr.; brother, Paul Curtis; and sisters, Marjorie Mast and Penny Spieser.

He held many jobs in his life; Dinner Bell Packing House, Junction Stone Quarry, and General Motors all in Ohio; ranching at the Charles Pexton Ranch and Jake Johnson Ranch in Douglas, Miller Land and Livestock in Daniel, Wyoming, and Bud Thaler Ranch in LaGrange, Wyoming.  Ranching was not work, but a way of life.  Leatherwork at J D Crafts was his passion. He was a genius when it came to repairing or restoring saddles.  His gun holsters and knife sheaths were top notch.

He was always happy to share stories of his life and he had a lot of them.

He was loved and admired by many.  He always said he had a good happy life living his dream and he took no shit from any man or woman.
