JOHN CHRISTIAN PHIPPS

Funeral liturgy will be held for John Christian Phipps, 63, at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Saint Louis Catholic Church in Glenrock, Wyoming with Reverend Robert Fox as the Celebrant and John Kornkven as the eulogist.  A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 26, 2019 at the church.  Inurnment will be in the Glenrock Cemetery.

John Phipps died Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his home in Glenrock.

John was born Tuesday, September 6, 1955 in Lusk, Wyoming the son of Charles Rodney and Shirley May (Jordan) Phipps.  The family moved to Glenrock, where John attended school.  He was very active in sports, track, basketball, and football excelling in all of them.  Furthering his education in Utah on a football scholarship.

He later married Mary Rawdon of Glenrock and fathered two kids, Courtney in 1983 and Erick in 1985.  John loved spending time with his grandsons, Brantley and Ryker Phipps.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Phipps, of Glenrock; children, Erick (Cyera) Phipps of Glenrock and Courtney Rawdon of Casper, Wyoming; and grandchildren, Brantley Phipps and Ryker Phipps both of Glenrock.

John was preceded in death by his father, Rodney, on June 19,1984 and brothers, Bruce Phipps on September 17, 1988, Joseph Phipps on January 15, 2016, and Gary Phipps on August 11, 2018.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be John Kornkven, Dennis Epperly, Louie Haskell, Rocky Phipps, Brantley Phipps, Ryker Phipps, and Patrick Phipps.

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
