Obituary

A funeral service for Joyce (Weimer) Engling, 85, will be held AT 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Glendo High School Gymnasium in Glendo, Wyoming with Pastor Bennie Hill officiating. Interment will be in the Horseshoe Cemetery near Glendo.

Joyce Engling passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at her home in Glendo, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Saturday, March 12, 1938, in Wheatland, Wyoming the daughter of John and Helen (Mowrey) Weimer.

Joyce met the love of her life, Dean Engling, in Glendo and they were married on September 9, 1956. They were happily married for 63 years until Dean passed away in 2020. Shortly after marrying, Joyce and Dean moved to Collbran, Colorado where they welcomed two children – Ronald “Ronny” and Robert “Robby”. After moving back to Wyoming, they welcomed three more children – Nancy, Linda, and Cheryl. Joyce was a dedicated stay-at-home mother but somehow found the time to manage her husband’s trucking business, drive school and activity bus for the Glendo School, be an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and Glendo Community Church.

In addition to loving her family, Joyce was known for her love of sports in general but her affinity for Denver Nuggets basketball could not be denied. Joyce was ecstatic to see their first NBA title in franchise history this year.

Joyce will forever be remembered as the most patient and kind wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor, and friend. Her infectious laugh and gentle nature made her the best companion regardless of the event. Her home was a gathering place for friends and family and holds endless memories.

Joyce is survived by her children, Ronald (Tammy) Engling of Glendo, Robert (Sandy) Engling of Glendo, Nancy (Todd) Dysart of Glendo, Linda (Mike) Boughton of Wheatland, and Cheryl (Dan) Ellis of Lingle; twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Weimer on October 6, 1960; mother, Helen Weimer on June 13, 2004; husband, Dean Engling on March 21, 2020; siblings, Claude Weimer, Lois Robert, Delores Bebber, Henry “Swede” Weimer, Robert Weimer, and Alma Weimer.

Memorials to the Glendo Community Church-Window Replacement Fund, P.O. Box 372, Glendo, Wyoming 82213 or to Marge Cares, P.O. Box 98, Glendo, Wyoming 82213 would be appreciated by the family.
